Dennis Eugene Hodge

October 9, 1943 – March 27, 2024

Dennis Eugene Dodge, of Henryetta, passed away on March 27, 2024, at the age of 80. Born to the late Emmitt and Leona (Stewart) Dodge on October 9, 1943, Dennis lived a life marked by adventure, creativity and a profound passion for the outdoors.

Dennis graduated from Henryetta High School, where he forged friendships and exhibited the work ethic and enthusiasm that would define his life. Dennis married Ladonna Minyard on August 30, 1960, in Weleetka. He worked for many years as a dedicated forklift operator at Anchor Glass, from which he would later retire. Beyond the confines of work, Dennis could often be found immersed in the great outdoors. His love for hunting and nature was not just a pastime but a vital part of who he was.

Dennis was a member of New Life Assembly of God church in Henryetta. He was an active member of several hunting associations, including the Oklahoma Bow Hunters Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Hunters Association, and Ducks Unlimited. Dennis traversed six different states in pursuit of game and tranquility alike, always cherishing the solitude of the high mountains, the grandeur of the wind-swept plains and the richness of Oklahoma’s bottom lands.

For Dennis, the transition between night and day – dusk and dawn – was the pinnacle of daily rhythm. These moments were holy to him, offering a sanctuary where he found joy in the solitude of the woods and comfort in the embrace of darkness. His adventurous spirit led him to corners of wilderness where others seldom ventured, and his creative soul found expression in each path he tread and every landscape he admired.

As the sun rises and sets over the plains and mountains Dennis adored, those he loved can take comfort in the enduring image of him standing at the crest of a hill, a figure silhouetted against the sprawling canvas of the sky, peacefully watching over the world he so loved.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother Bruce Dodge. The love and values he shared with them continue to be a testament to a life well-lived and the tight-knit family bonds that exemplified his existence.

Dennis is survived by his son, Steven Dodge, and wife, Kalli; grandson, Tanner Dodge and wife Mallory; granddaughter, Abbi Dodge, all of whom reside in Henryetta. Sister-inlaw, Betty Allen and her husband Everett, also of Henryetta. The joy and pride he took in his family’s achievements illuminated his life with purpose and enrichment. Dennis’s presence will be sorely missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Viewing for Dennis will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service, with family present to receive friends from 6-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church, 1201 C Street in Henryetta, with Rev. Brett Wheeler and Rev. Rodney George officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Rector, Garrett Rector, Larry Mason, Albert Tucker, Brad Williams and Jimmie Vann. Honorary pallbearers will be Ramsey Rector, Bill Dodge, Dan Artussee, Morris Dodge and Jim Beamer.

Arrangements and services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service, 410 E. Trudgeon Street in Henryetta.
