George Darwin Schupp, Jr.

October 31, 1933 – March 10, 2024

George Darwin Schupp, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on October 31, 1933, to George Darwin Schupp, Sr. and Margaret Louise Burns. George dedicated his life to family, service and entrepreneurship, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

George began his journey of service to his country on June 1, 1954, when he entered the military, demonstrating a profound commitment to duty and honor. Following his military service, he pursued academic excellence and graduated from the University of Louisville, laying the foundation for a lifetime of accomplishments.

A visionary and a pioneer, George co-founded Stairmaster, contributing to the fitness industry’s growth and innovation. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to improving lives through health and wellness will be remembered as a testament to his character.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kayren Schupp. George is survived by his children, Christoper Todd Schupp, Lawrence Bradley Schupp, Michael Rodney Schupp, Jeanne Valerie Lopez and George Edward Schupp. He leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to his 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Beyond his professional achievements, George had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. He found joy in horse races, savoring fine bourbons, engaging in spirited poker games, exploring the depths of history and embarking on adventures through travel.

A celebration of George’s life will be held at Church of the Madalene on March 22 at 10 a.m. Friends, family and acquaintances are invited to join together to commemorate a life well-lived and to share memories of a remarkable individual.

George Darwin Schupp, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his entrepreneurial spirit and his vibrant love for life. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
