FCC announces changes for food distribution

Henryetta’s First Christian Church Food Pantry has adjusted their date and time for food distribution.

The church is located at 412 No 5th St. (5th & Cummings).

Food will be distributed on the last Thursday of the month. There will be one tomorrow.

The time is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Organizers of the pantry stated that emergency needs within the month will be taken care at the church on Sundays, at the conclusion of the service at 11 a.m. Someone will be available to take care of those in need.

No personal individual telephone numbers are available through the week, but you can call the church office at 918-652-3480 leave a voicemail message and your call will be returned as messages are checked.

This food pantry is an Outreach Program to help those in need and make sure that no one goes hungry. It is sponsored by the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) and made up strictly with volunteers and donations from the church and the community.

One of the main financial supporters is the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, according to Jane Johnson. “This group of local ladies certainly do their part to support their local community and this is one way they reach out, and we are very thankful for their generosity and sharing love with others.”

Other financial support for the pantry is through the First Christian Church fundraisers, such as rummage sales and dinners.

A variety of shelf foods, as well as some fresh meat, (hamburger, cold cuts, etc.) are offered in this pantry and they will help you choose and fit your family needs.

“Foods purchased are 80 percent from local stores as we strive to support our town in this project,” Johnson stated. “Hygiene products are also offered. We are excited to reach out and do our part to help others and you’ll be greeted with love and compassion and feel the Lord’s warmth as we extend a helping hand to your needs as Jesus would have us do. We are a work in progress as we are stocking the pantry shelves and looking forward to Thursday, Feb. 29 … we will have updates and pictures as we progress along!”

Also keep check on the church website at: HenryettaFC. church for further information. The website was recently re-designed and officially updated by Lynn Wegley and will be kept updated as needed.

“Remember – No one in this community should ever live in hunger!! Jesus tells us in John 21:15 to feed His sheep … it’s called love!”
