Wilson’s Janelle Proctor reaches 1,000-point plateau en route to 3rd place finish
Last weekend was a busy three days for all eight Okmulgee County high school girls basketball programs.
The eight girls cage squads – Beggs, Dewar, Henryetta, Morris, Okmulgee, Preston, Schulter, and Wilson – competed in seven different 3-day tournaments last Thursday-Saturday with two (Beggs, Henryetta) battling six other teams for hardware at the same event.
The Preston Lady Pirates were the top county girls team at last weekend’s tournament action, walking away with the runner-up team plaque at the 2024 Mike Kerr Classic at Morrison High School. The Lady Pirates were denied a second-straight tournament championship this past Saturday with a 55-47 loss to Class 3A No. 17 Luther in the title contest.
The Wilson Lady Tigers were the only other county girls cage squad to take home hardware last weekend with a third-place finish at the 2024 Depew Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Lady Tigers were awarded the third-place plaque at the 3-day tournament following a 46-34 victory over Glencoe last Saturday evening. During the Lady Tigers’ opening-round 82-21 victory over New Lima, junior standout Janelle Proctor reached a special milestone – scoring her 1,000th career point in the lopsided win.

— Henryetta Invitational First Round
Metro Christian 42, Beggs 30
The Lady Demons took the opening frame by a narrow 9-7 margin. Metro Christian sent the opening- round contest to the halftime break in front by nine, 25-16, following an 18-7 advantage in the second period. The Beggs ladies cut the deficit to three (29-26) with a 10-4 margin in the third quarter, but was unable to complete the second-half comeback, as Metro Christian came out of the final stanza with a 13-4 advantage to hand the Lady Demons the 42– 30, opening-round, defeat.
Beggs was led offensively by Rylee Youngblood, who finished with a team-high 17 points. Other Lady Demon scorers in the first-round loss were Destiny Clay with six, Kamya Stallings four, Kaley Collins two, and Alexis Tecumseh one.

The Lady Knights trailed 21-2 after one and 36-8 at halftime. Bristow took the final two quarters by margins of 17-8 and 11-4, respectively, to hand the host Henryetta ladies the 64-20 setback.
Raychel Morrison was the leading scorer for the Lady Knights in the opening-round loss, finishing with five points. The senior was joined in the scoring column by Graci Lollis, Casidy Bailey, and Allie Davis with four apiece, McKayla Greenhaw two, and Maddie Rock one.
— Consolation Semifinals Beggs 49, Haskell 42
The Lady Demons were outscored by margins of 12-8 and 12-6, respectively, in the first two quarters to trail by 10 (24-14) at halftime. The Beggs cage squad rebounded from the double-digit deficit by outscoring the Lady Haymakers by a combined 3518 in the second half to walk away with the 49-42 decision.
Rylee Youngblood was tops offensively for the Lady Demons in the loser’s bracket win with an 18-point performance, which included 16 in the final two quarters. Bleu Hall also reached double-figure scoring for Beggs in the win, finishing with 10 points. The remaining Lady Demon scorers against Haskell were Konner Stanton and Destiny Clay with eight apiece, Kamya Stallings three, and Tessa Christy two.
— Southmoore 60, Henryetta 37
The Lady Knights trailed by five (16-11) after the first eight minutes of action, then went into the intermission down by 12 points (30-23) after being outscored 14-7 in the second stanza. Southmoore took the final two quarters by margins of 12-7 and 18-12, respectively, to hand the Henryetta cage squad the 60-37 setback.
Leading the offensive scoring for the Lady Knights in the loser’s bracket contest was Zoe Boatright with seven points. Other Henryetta players to tally points against Southmoore were Maddie Rock, McKayla Greenhaw, and Raychel Morrison six each, Kassidy Lee five, Graci Lollis four, and Allie Davis three.

Haskell 38, Henryetta 36
Haskell took the opening frame by a narrow 9-5 margin, while the host Lady Knights took an 18-12 lead into halftime after outscoring the Lady Haymakers 13-3 in the second stanza. Haskell made it a 23-21 Henryetta lead following a 9-5 advantage in the third quarter, while the Henryetta squad was unable to hold onto the narrow margin in the final eight minutes of action, as the Lady Knights were outscored 17-13 in a high-scoring fourth period to wind up on the short end of a 38-36 outcome.
Henryetta had two players reach double figures in the narrow loss, led by McKayla Greenhaw with a team-best 12 points. Kassidy Lee was the other Lady Knight player to finish in double digits offensively against Haskell with a 10-point performance. The remaining Henryetta scorers in the seventh-place contest were Maddie Rock with five, Zoe Boatright four, Raychel Morrison three, and Graci Lollis two.

Southmoore 54, Beggs 47
The Lady Demons led 13-6 after one and 28-17 at halftime. The Beggs squad watched its double- digit advantage disappear in the third quarter, as Southmoore came out of the frame with a 20-5 margin to send the fifth-place game into the final eight minutes of regulation with Beggs trailing by four, 37-33. The Lady Demons tallied 13 points in the final frame in a comeback bid, but Southmoore countered with 17 points in the period to hand the Beggs cage squad the 54-47 defeat.
The top scorer for the Lady Demons in the consolation title game was Rylee Youngblood with a team-high 25 points. Other Beggs scorers against Southmoore were Konner Stanton with eight, Destiny Clay seven, Tessa Christy five, and Kamya Stallings two.

Wilson 82, New Lima 21
The Lady Tigers led wire-to-wire in their opening- round victory. The Wilson cage squad led 22-0 after one and 38-17 at halftime. The Lady Tigers complete the decisive win by outscoring their foes 20-0 and 23-4, respectively, in the final two frames for the 82-21 decision.
Janelle Proctor, who reached the 1,000-point plateau in the win, led the way offensively for Wilson with a game-high 37-point performance. Brooklyn Weeks joined Proctor in double figures with 10 points, followed by Kaozong Yang with nine, Reese Herring and Kaylee Earhart eight apiece, Jayda Pinkston six, and Jamie Proctor and Jaslene Proctor two each.

Hominy 44, Wilson 37
The Lady Tigers trailed 16-12 after the first eight minutes of action and 28-20 at halftime. The Wilson squad cut the deficit in half, 35-31, with an 11-7 advantage in the third quarter, but was edged 9-6 in the final stanza to suffer the 44-37 setback.
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Janelle Proctor with a team-best 23 points. Other Wilson offensive contributors in the semifinal loss were Brooklyn Weeks with five, Kaozong Yang three, and Jayda Pinkston, Jamie Proctor, and Reese Herring two apiece.

Wilson 46, Glencoe 34
The Lady Tigers came away with a pair of onepoint advantages – 10-9 and 9-8 – in the first two quarters for a narrow 19-17 halftime lead, then outscored the Lady Panthers 13-11 and 14-6, respectively, in the final two frames for the 46-34 decision and the third-place finish.
The Wilson offense was led by Janelle Proctor with 19, followed by Brooklyn Weeks with nine and Kaozong Yang eight. Other Lady Tiger scorers in the third-place contest were Jaslene Proctor with four, Jamie Proctor three, Reese Herring two, and Jayda Pinkston one.

Preston 58, Stroud 30
The Lady Pirates took the opening period by a 17-8 margin, then put the game further away in the second stanza by outscoring Stroud 21-12 in the frame for a 38-20 advantage at the intermission. The Preston ladies finished off the decisive opening-round victory with margins of 11-6 and 9-4, respectively, in the final two quarters for the 58-30 decision.
Anistyn Garner led a trio of Preston double-digit scorers in the first-round win with a team-high 15 points. Savannah King (14) and Taylan Starr (10) also finished in double figures for the Lady Pirates in the opening-round contest. Other Preston offensive contributors against Stroud were Emilie Stidman with nine, Shaunassi Jordan four, and Josie Cope and Pheobey Finch three apiece.

Preston 56, Morrison 20
In the semifinal win, the Lady Pirates took the opening frame by an 11-5 margin, then went into halftime with a 20-6 advantage after outscoring the host Lady Wildcats 9-1 in the second stanza. After escaping the third period with a 16-12 margin for an 18-point lead – 36-18, the Lady Pirates capped off the semifinal win by torching the host Lady Wildcats 20-2 in the final quarter for the 56-20 decision.
Savannah King led the way offensively for Preston with a game-high 20-point performance. Anistyn Garner (14) and Shaunassi Jordan (11) also tallied double-digit scoring for the Lady Pirates in the semifinal win, while the Preston scoring was rounded out by Emilie Stidman with eight and Josie Cope three.

Luther 55, Preston 47
Both teams tallied 13 points in the opening quarter, while Luther took the second period by a 17-13 margin for a 30-26 halftime advantage. The Lady Pirates were unable to overcome the narrow halftime deficit in the final two frames, being outscored 10-7 and 15-14, respectively, to wind up on the short end of a 55-47 outcome.
The top offensive performer for Preston in the title contest was Savannah King with a team-best 16 points. Anistyn Garner joined King in double figures with 14 points. Other Lady Pirate scorers against Luther were Taylan Starr and Emilie Stidman with six apiece, Pheobey Finch three, and Josie Cope two.

Lincoln Christian 71, Okmulgee 12
The Lady Bulldogs were held without any points in the first two quarters, while the host Lincoln Christian squad tallied offensive frames of 31 and 13 points, respectively, in the first half. The Okmulgee cage squad was outscored 16-9 in the third period for a 60-9 deficit, then were edged 11-3 in the final frame to suffer the 71-12 defeat.
Natori Yates was tops offensively for Okmulgee with six, followed by Cora Love with four and Caedence Smith with two.
— Consolation Semifinals Owasso 73, Okmulgee 13
The Lady Bulldogs trailed 29-4 after one and 4111 at halftime. Owasso took the final two frames by margins of 21-0 and 12-2, respectively, to hand the Okmulgee ladies the 73-13 setback.
The Lady Bulldog scoring was led by the trio of Natori Yates, Cora Love, and Dalazia Hammon with three points apiece. Caedence Smith and Addison Yates rounded out the Okmulgee scoring against Owasso with two points each.

Tulsa Edison 42, Okmulgee 22
The Lady Bulldogs were blanked 13-0 in the first eight minutes of action, then were edged 9-7 in the second stanza to trail by 15 points (22-7) at the intermission. Tulsa Edison took the final two frames by margins of 10-6 and 10-9, respectively, to put the Okmulgee cage squad on the losing end of a 42-22 decision.
Cora Love was tops offensively for the Lady Bull- dogs in the seventh-place contest with nine points. Other Okmulgee scorers against Tulsa Edison were Victoria Montgomery with four, Caedence Smith three, and Brylee Edlin, Addison Yates, and Cyann Powell two apiece.

Schulter 40, Graham-Dustin 9 The Lady Bulldogs doubled up on the host Lady Chieftains 6-3 in a low-scoring first period, then went into halftime with a 16-7 advantage after taking the second quarter by a 10-4 margin. The Schulter ladies outscored their opening-round foes by a combined 24-2 in the second half to walk away with the 40-9 victory.
The Schulter offensive attack was led by the duo of Alyssa Evans and Caidence Campbell with 10 points apiece. Macee Henderson was next in the scoring column for the Lady Bulldogs with eight, followed by Payton Campbell with five, Lexi Hurt three, and Jenna Henderson and Makalah Hawkins two each.

Wayne 32, Schulter 25
Schulter came out of the opening frame with a narrow 10-8 margin, while Wayne took the second stanza for a 20-13 halftime advantage. The final two periods saw deadlocks of 7-7 and 5-5, respectively, to put the SHS Lady Bulldogs on the losing end of a 32-25 outcome.
Jenna Henderson led the way offensively for Schulter with a 12-point performance. Macee Henderson was next for the Lady Bulldogs with nine, followed by Payton Campbell and Caidence Campbell with two points apiece.

Maud 62, Schulter 46
Maud took the opening period by an 18-10 margin, then Schulter cut the deficit to five, 27-22, at halftime after outscoring the Lady Tigers 12-9 in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs continued to chip away at the deficit in the third stanza, escaping the frame with a 15-12 advantage to send the third-place contest to the final eight minutes of regulation with Schulter trailing by two, 39-37. Schulter was unable to complete the second-half comeback in the final period, as Maud took the quarter by a 23-9 advantage to hand the Lady Bulldogs the 62-46 setback.
The duo of Macee Henderson and Caidence Campbell were tops offensively for Schulter in the 16-point loss with 19 and 15 points, respectively. Other Lady Bulldog scorers against Maud were Alyssa Evans with five, Lexi Hurt four, and Payton Campbell three.

Okay 51, Morris 20
The Lady Eagles trailed 14-5 after one and 25-8 at halftime. Okay took the final two frames by margins of 10-3 and 16-9, respectively, to hand the Morris ladies the 51-20 defeat.
Emma Duclos was the leading scorer for the Lady Eagles in the opening- round loss with eight points. Rylee Whitaker was next in the scoring column for Morris with seven, followed by Kailyn Fixico with three and Asiah Barnett two.
— Consolation Semifinals Morris 66, Tulsa Hale 12
The Lady Eagles dominate their loser’s bracket battle with Tulsa Hale, outscoring the Lady Rangers 27-2 in the first period and 14-5 in the second stanza for a 41-7 lead at the halftime break. The Morris cage squad completed the lopsided win with margins of 15-3 and 10-2, respectively, in the second half for the 66-12 decision.
The top scorer for the Lady Eagles in the consolation semifinal contest was Fire Clark, who finished with a gamehigh 15 points. Lillian Giddens (11) and Emma Duclos (10) also tallied double-digit scoring for the Morris ladies in the win. Other Eagle scorers against Tulsa Hale were Abby Long with five, Alli Guynes, Taylor Phillips, Kailyn Fixico, and Asiah Barnett four apiece, Alexis Schell three, and Kaylynn Lukenbill, Ashlyn Clevenger, and Reese Pendley two each.

Keys, who is coached by former Beggs athlete Kruz Lynch, took the opening frame by a 9-7 margin, while the Morris squad answered with a 10-8 advantage in the second period for a 17-17 deadlock at halftime. After the Lady Cougars came out of the third quarter with a 12-9 margin for a 29-26 lead, the Lady Eagles attempted to overcome the narrow deficit in the final eight minutes of regulation, but were only able to manage a narrow 5-4 advantage to come up on the short end of a 33-31 decision.
The Lady Eagles were led offensively by Fire Clark with 10 points, followed by Emma Duclos with nine. Rylee Whitaker was next for Morris with six, followed by Alexis Schell with four and Asiah Barnett two.

Dewar 46, Central (Marlow) 35 The Lady Dragons trailed 11-5 after one quarter of action, then outscored the Lady Bronchos 17-8 in the second period for a 22-19 lead at the intermission. The Dewar ladies took the final two stanzas by margins of 12-7 and 12-9, respectively, for a 46-35 victory.
Leading the way offensively for the Lady Dragons in the first-round win was Marti Yaerger with a team-best 12 points. Tajaya Lewis and Cali Thomason just missed double-digit scoring for Dewar with nine points apiece. The other Lady Dragon scorers against Central (Marlow) were Lay-Lay Carter with eight, Mariah Carter seven, and Laynie Taylor one.

Chattanooga 46, Dewar 14
The Lady Dragons were unable to find their offense in the semifinal battle with the Class B No. 13 Lady Warriors. Chattanooga led 20-1 after one and 33-8 at halftime. Dewar was outscored 11-2 in the third quarter to send the contest to the final frame with the Lady Dragons trailing by 34 points, 44-10. Dewar took the final stanza by a narrow 4-2 advantage to make the final tally, 46-14, in favor of Chattanooga.
Tajaya Lewis scored the first 10 points in the contest to lead Dewar offensively, while Marti Yaerger tallied both baskets in the final frame to round out the Lady Dragon scoring in the semifinal loss.

Waurika 51, Dewar 41
The Lady Dragons trailed 17-10 after the first eight minutes of action, then were outscored 15-14 in the second stanza to go into the intermission down by eight, 32-24. Waurika came out of the third quarter with a 12-10 advantage to increase its lead to 10 (44-34) with eight minutes remaining in regulation. Both teams tallied seven points in the final period to put the Dewar ladies on the losing end of a 51-41 outcome.
The Lady Dragons were led offensively by Marti Yaerger, who finished with a team-best 16 points. Bre Harvell and Tajaya Lewis just missed double-digit scoring for Dewar in the third-place contest with nine and eight points, respectively. Lay-Lay Carter was next for Dewar with six points, followed by Cali Thomason with two.
