Corbin captures bronze to pace DHS mat squad
Dewar High School competed at its very first wrestling tournament this past Monday in Warner.
The Lady Dragon varsity wrestling team was among 19 other mat programs to compete at the all-day event and came away with a team total of 30 points at their first-ever wrestling tournament.
The top individual finisher for the Lady Dragons on Monday was Emma Corbin, who took home the bronze medal in the high school girls 170-pound weight division. Corbin earned the third-place finish with a medical forfeit win over teammate Elisabeth Crow in the thirdplace match.
Hanna Corbin and Vicki Faulkner also took home fourth-place finishes for Dewar on Monday. Hanna Corbin finished fourth in the high school girls 120-pound weight division, while Faulkner placed fourth overall in the high school girls 190-pound weight division.
Jaycie Berry was fifth overall in the high school girls 120-pound weight division on Monday, while Brailee England finished sixth overall in the high school girls 190-pound weight division at the season-opening tournament.
Dakota Duke competed in the high school girls 115-pound weight division at the Warner Eagle Classic on Monday and suffered backto- back defeats at the event.
