A recent drug take back event at OSUIT collected 64 pounds of prescription drugs.
The OSUIT campus police department and counseling office partnered with the office of OSUCommunity Wellness and Prevention, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (OBNDD) and members of the Okmulgee County Consortium to host their bi-annual drug take back event at the OSUIT student Union Parking lot. This event allows anyone from the OSUIT or greater Okmulgee communities to bring in expired or unused medications for safe and anonymous disposal, according to OSUIT Police Chief Matthew Wooliver.
“The event was held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the take back this fall yielded 64 pounds of prescription drugs,” the chief reported. “I want to thank all of the agencies and community partners that work so hard to make this event a success multiple times per year.”
Also, any OSUIT employees who need to dispose of prescription medication throughout the year, can contact the OSUIT Police Department office for resources and instructions, or there is a medication drop box at the Okmulgee County Sheriff ’s Office located at 315 W. 8th Street in Okmulgee.
Be looking for another event in spring of 2024.
