Hailey Gillispie of Henryetta High School was not only nominated, but also made the state finalist phase of Wendy’s Heisman Watch. Gillispie was a four-time state qualifier in cross country and threetime state qualifier in track and field.
The Mvskoke Food Sovereignty Initiative staff completed their peer trains and announced the start of their own 4-H Charter Club for Okmulgee and surrounding areas.
Kim Brownfield of Dewar competed in the U.S. Paralympic Fred Lamback Disability Swim Meet in Augusta, Ga. The five-time Paralympia won three of four events and finished 2nd place.

Ginger Williams was the area’s newest AmeriCorps member. Executive Director of the Okmulgee County American Red Cross Diane Belick congratulated Williams for joining.
Henryetta Art Association held a benefit to raise money to fix their roof. The benefit was successful, but they still needed more funds to replace the roof.
The Henryetta High School cross country track team traveled to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa for the State Cross Country Track meet. Alex Richard picked up an 11th place medal at the competition.

50 Years Ago:
The “Holiday for Lovers,” presented by the Jewel Box Theatre, a Community Theatre of Oklahoma City, was the second program of the year sponsored by the Henryetta Arts and Humanities Council. The show was presented in the Henryetta High School Auditorium.
Holiday Inn of Henryetta had a Sunday Buffet, which included roast beef, turkey and dressing, fried chicken and cake. The cost was $2.55 for adults and $1.35 for children.
The Henryetta High School Choir, under the direction of D.C. Riley, performed for the Lions Club.

Henryetta lost their football game against Checotah 9-6. It rained the whole game but Jones, acting captain, scored the only touchdown after running the ball 95 yards.
B and L Motor Co. sold Overland sedans for $795, tourings and roadsters for $495, Redbirds for $695 and coupes for $750.
Kellers held a special on pantyhose. Their usual prices were $1.50 and $1.85, but the cost was reduced to $1.10.
