Investigation into shooting continues
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

OPD seeks information

The investigation into a shooting last week is still ongoing as officials seek additional information.

The shooting incident happened Oct. 17 in the area of Randolph and Ohio. Authorities found no one in the area, but did recover shell casings at the scene.

As the officers searched for evidence of a shooting, they were informed a shooting victim had arrived at the hospital.

A second shooting victim also arrived at the hospital. Both male victims were treated by emergency staff.

Christian Carter 23, of Okmulgee was shot in the arm. He was transported by personal vehicle to the Muscogee Nation Medical Center and ultimately transferred to a Tulsa hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover.

Damien Hage, 25, of Okmulgee was shot from behind, below the waist, according to Chief Prentice. He was transported by personal vehicle to Muscogee Nation Medical Center where he died of his injuries. Authorities were looking for the persons who dropped him off at the hospital.

Based on information received, investigators believe there was an exchange of gunfire between the two men that were shot.

This week, Chief Prentice announced the vehicle investigators were looking for has been located and processed.

“We have spoken to the owner who was not one of the persons in the video surveillance,” the chief stated. “Investigators are still looking for several people who were present for the shooting. To date, those people have either not been identified or those individuals that have been identified have avoided officers trying to locate them. As the investigation stands, we will not be able to request charges unless someone tells us what led up to the shooting and who fired the shots.”

Investigators are still looking for anyone present for the shooting to come forward with information. The investigation is ongoing.

During the investigation, a firearm was recovered from the vehicle that transported Carter to the hospital, but there is at least one other firearm authorities wish to find. Anyone with information is asked to contact Okmulgee Police at 918-756-3511 or tips@okmcity.net.
