Longtime Henryettan turns 104
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

Christina L. Lamb reaches another milestone

Christina Lois Lamb, a longtime Henryetta resident now residing near Oklahoma City, is celebrating her 104th birthday.

Christina was born in Arnett, Oklah. in 1919. This was the year of the first pandemic. She worked for Public Service Company for over 30 years. She was one of the original drivers of the electric car, which was owned by Public Service.

Known as Chris to close friends and family, Lamb is a world traveler, having been to six of the seven continents, and taken many cruises in her lifetime. She was on one of the first cruises that went down the Panama Canal, and actually got stuck. It was discovered that the measurements were wrong for the size of the ship, and they were stranded there for days.

She and her husband Peck frequently gave financial support to students who wanted to attend college in the Henryetta area. They never had children of their own, but many people consider her a second mom, myself included.

In looking back through the archives of the Henryetta Free-Lance and Okmulgee Times, Lamb is mentioned in many articles, especially her activities in numerous organizations.

“Lamb has spent the last 44 years in Dewar and Henryetta. She is a retired Public Service Company employee, spending 20 years in the Henryetta office and six years in Okmulgee, as office manager. Her husband, R.K. Lamb was personnel manager for Pittsburg Plate Glass for 27 years.

“Hobbies include football, baseball, golf, fishing, traveling, reading, crocheting and sewing. Lamb belongs to several clubs and organizations… OSU Alumni, Bunco Club, Tulsa Little Theatre, and active in the hospital auxiliary.”

Other organizations included the Henryetta Ladies Golf Association, AARP and the Dewar Rebekah Lodge. She also was appointed part-time deputy in the county assessor’s office back in 1952.

In 2002, Lamb was interviewed about the theft of her flag and pole from her home. The thief or thieves even removed the two inch pipe buried in the cement base, while she was away. The theft didn’t stop her patriotic spirit. Lamb is an avid OSU

Cowboy fan also.
