By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR,

The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity fastpitch softball team finished last weekend’s participation at the Silo Tournament with a 2-2 record in Pool Play.

Henryetta’s win streak ends with loss to Broken Bow

The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity fastpitch softball team finished last weekend’s participation at the Silo Tournament with a 2-2 record in Pool Play.

Along with the .500 finish in Pool Play at Silo, the Lady Knights’ win streak was snapped last Friday with a 5-2 loss to the Broken Bow Lady Savages.

The Henryetta squad began Pool Play at the Silo Tournament last Thursday with an 8-5 victory over the Washington JV. The Lady Knights completed last Thursday’s Pool Play action with a 12-4 win over the Davis Lady Wolves. The two Pool Play wins increased Henryetta’s win streak to 16 games.

The Lady Knights began Pool Play action this past Friday with a 5-2 loss to Broken Bow, then suffered a 10-0 loss to the host Silo Lady Rebels in their final Pool Play contest.

The 2-2 finish put the Henryetta diamond squad fourth in its Pool and kept the Lady Knights out of Saturday’s trophy competition.

The Henryetta ladies were back in action Monday and Tuesday with road trips to Eufaula and Vian, respectively, and are scheduled to host Vian Thursday.

In last Thursday’s Pool Play opener against the Washington JV, the Lady Warriors took an early 5-0 advantage with two runs in the first and three runs in the second.

The Lady Knights did all of their offensive damage in the bottom of the third, erupting for eight runs in the frame to lead by three, 8-5, after three innings of action.

Neither team produced any runs in their half of the fourth with the 75-minute time limit expiring with the Lady Knights batting in the home half of the frame to give the Henryetta squad its 15th-straight win, 8-5.

The Henryetta offense was led by the duo of Shelby Kilhoffer (2 for 2, 2 doubles, RBI) and Winter Beaver (2 for 3, 2 singles) with two hits apiece.

The other Lady Knight base hits against the Washington JV came on singles by Ailanee Hicks and Allie Davis, an RBI single by McKayla Greenhaw, and a 2-run single by Kassidy Lee.

Other Henryetta baserunners in the Pool Play opener were Greenhaw (2 walks), Kilhoffer (walk), Hicks (walk), Lee (walk), Beaver (fielder’s choice), Serenity Rex (walk, fielder’s choice), Kinley Miller (RBI walk), and Maddie Rock (fielder’s choice, error).

Davis was awarded the pitching win for Henryetta, allowing one run on three hits with one hit batter in two and two-third innings of relief work.

Rex got the start in the circle for the Lady Knights against the Washington JV, giving up four runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout in one and one-third innings of work.

In last Thursday’s Pool Play battle with Davis, the Lady Wolves opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first.

After a scoreless second, the Lady Knights got on the scoreboard with three runs in the top of the third, then extended their lead to six, 8-2, with a 5-run fourth inning.

Davis made it an 8-3 contest with a run in the last of the fourth, while Henryetta came out of the fifth inning with a 4-1 advantage to award the Lady Knights the 12-4 decision.

Serenity Rex was the top offensive performance for Henryetta in the win, finishing 3 for 3 with a single, two doubles, and 3 RBIs.

McKayla Greenhaw (2 for 3, 2 singles), Shelby Kilhoffer (2 for 3, single, double, RBI), and Winter Beaver (2 for 3, single, double, 2 RBIs) also recorded multi-hit games for the Lady Knights against Davis with two hits apiece.

The final four base hits for Henryetta against Davis came on singles by Kassidy Lee, Kinley Miller, and Maddie Rock and an RBI single by Allie Davis.

Other Lady Knight baserunners in the Pool Play win were Kilhoffer (walk, error), Rex (walk), Lee (error, fielder’s choice), Davis (error), Beaver (walk), Miller (fielder’s choice, error), Rock (walk), and Ailanee Hicks (2 walks). Hicks and Lee drove in runs in the 4-run fifth with an RBI sacrifice fly and RBI groundout, respectively.

Davis earned the pitching win for Henryetta, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out five and hitting three in five innings of work.

In Friday’s Pool Play showdown with Broken Bow, the Lady Savages opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first, then added a run in their half of the second for a 5-0 advantage.

The Lady Knights tallied their first run of the contest in the top of the third for a 5-1 contest. The Henryetta offense was only able to produce one run in the top of the fourth to suffer the 5-2 defeat when the 75-minute time limit expired during the Lady Knights’ at-bat in the inning.

The Henryetta offense was held to just four base hits in the contest. The four Lady Knight hits came on singles by McKayla Greenhaw, Serenity Rex, and Kassidy Lee and an RBI single by Allie Davis.

Other Lady Knight baserunners against Broken Bow were Greenhaw (error), Ailanee Hicks (hit by pitch), Winter Beaver (fielder’s choice), Kinley Miller (walk), and Maddie Rock (walk).

Davis was saddled with the pitching loss for Henryetta, allowing five runs on four hits with one walk, one strikeout, and one hit batter in three innings of work.

In Friday’s shutout loss to Silo, the host Lady Rebels plated seven runs in the top of the first and added three runs in the top of the fourth for the 10-0 outcome.

The Lady Knight offense was held to just one base hit in the shutout loss - a 2-out single in the fourth by Kassidy Lee.

The other Henryetta hitters to reach base against Silo were Shelby Kilhoffer (walk), Winter Beaver (walk), and Ailanee Hicks (error).

Serenity Rex was saddled with the pitching loss for Henryetta, giving up 10 runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking four in four innings of work.
