Lady Knights continue win streak
By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR,

Late rally earns Henryetta 14th consecutive victory

The current winning streak for the Henryetta Lady Knight varsity fastpitch softball team reached 14 games Tuesday evening with a 6-2, come-frombehind win over the Roland Lady Rangers.

The latest victory came in front of the Lady Knights’ hometown fans and improved their season record to 18-5 and district record at 9-0.

The Henryetta squad was back in action Thursday at the Silo Tournament with Pool Play games against Davis at 10:30 a.m. and the Washington JV at 1:30 p.m.

After this weekend’s participation in Silo, the Lady Knights are scheduled to begin next week with back-to-back district road games at Eufaula and Vian Monday and Tuesday.

In Tuesday’s come-from-behind win over Roland, the visitors broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Knights overcame the 2-run deficit with six runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-2 advantage with one inning remaining in regulation.

The Henryetta defense kept the Lady Rangers off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh to keep their win streak intact.

The top hitter for the Lady Knights against Roland was Ailanee Hicks, who finished 2 for 4, with a single, home run, and RBI. Hicks’ home run came on a solo blast that sparked the 6-run sixth.

The other Henryetta base hits on Tuesday came on singles by Kassidy Lee and Maddie Rock, double by Serenity Rex, RBI double by McKayla Greenhaw, and 2-run home run in the sixth by Shelby Kilhoffer.

Other Lady Knight baserunners against Roland were Greenhaw (walk), Kilhoffer (error), Rex (error), Lee (fielder’s choice), Allie Davis (fielder’s choice), Winter Beaver (walk), and Kinley Miller (walk, fielder’s choice).

Allie Davis worked two and twothird innings of scoreless relief to earn the pitching win for Henryetta.

Serenity Rex got the start in the circle for the Lady Knights, allowing two runs on no hits with four walks, one strikeout, and two hit batters in four and one-third innings of work.
