Lady Knights stretch win streak to 12 with latest victories

Henryetta trounces Roland, Heavener to remain perfect in district standings

The current win streak for the Henryetta Lady Knight varsity fastpitch softball team reached 12 on Tuesday with a 10-0 home win over the Heavener Lady Wolves.

The Lady Knights began the week with a 12-3 victory over the Roland Lady Rangers for their 11thstraight win.

The wins over Roland and Heavener came in district play and improved Henryetta’s District 3A-8 record to 8-0 and the only unbeaten district team in the 3A-8 standings. Eufaula (6-1) and Vian (6-2) are second and third in the district standings, respectively, followed by Spiro (4-5), Heavener (2-6), Roland (0-5), and Okmulgee (0-7).

The Lady Knights closed out this week’s action Thursday at home against Davenport and will also be at home Tuesday against Roland before competing at the Silo Tournament next Thursday-Saturday.

In Monday’s road win at Roland, the Lady Knights opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first, then added a run in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth for a commanding 8-0 advantage after four and one-half innings of action.

Roland thwarted the Lady Knights’ shutout bid with three runs in the home half of the fifth to make it an 8-3 contest, while the Henryetta squad put the finishing touches on the 9-run victory with a 4-run top of seventh.

Serenity led the Henryetta offensive attack against Roland, finishing 4 for 5 with two singles, double, triple, and 4 RBIs.

McKayla Greenhaw (3 for 3, single, 2 doubles) and Kassidy Lee (3 for 5, single, 2 doubles, RBI) were next offensively for the Lady Knights on Monday with three hits apiece, followed by the duo of Shelby Kilhoffer (2 for 4, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs) and Ailanee Hicks (2 for 4, single, home run, RBI) with two hits each. Kilhoffer’s roundtrippers came on a 2-run blast in the fourth and a 3-run shot in the seventh, while Hicks connected on a solo home run in the seventh.

The final two base hits against Roland came on a single by Kinley Miller and an RBI single by Chloe Swearingen.

Other Henryetta baserunners in Monday’s road win were Greenhaw (2 walks), Kilhoffer (walk, fielder’s choice), Hicks (walk), and Swearingen (walk).

Allie Davis was awarded the pitching win for the Lady Knights on Monday, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts in seven innings of work.

In Tuesday’s shutout win over Heavener, the Henryetta offense began the scoring with a run in the home half of the first, then added five in the second and four in the fourth for the 10-0 decision.

The top hitters for the Lady Knights on Tuesday were Serenity Rex (2 for 3, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) and Winter Beaver (2 for 3, single, double, 2 RBIs) with two hits apiece.

The other Henryetta base hits against Heavener came on a double by Shelby Kilhoffer, triple by McKayla Greenhaw, RBI single by Allie Davis, and 2-run single by Kassidy Lee.

Other Lady Knight baserunners in Tuesday’s shutout win were Greenhaw (RBI walk), Kilhoffer (error), Lee (walk), Davis (error), Ailanee Hicks (2 walks), Kinley Miller (walk, hit by pitch), and Maddie Rock (error).

Rex earned the pitching win for Henryetta on Tuesday, allowing just one hit, while striking out six and walking two in four scoreless innings of work.
