Annual Anchor of Hope Women’s Conference planned Sept. 22-23
September 1, 2023
Annual Anchor of Hope Women’s Conference planned Sept. 22-23

This year’s Anchor of Hope Women’s Conference will be held Sept. 22-23 and at Jubilee Christian Center, located at 12430 N 230 Rd. here in Okmulgee. The theme is “Royalty Chosen – Chosen for such a time as this” and is based on the book of Esther. This annual conference brings together each year women of all ages and from all walks of life.

The guest speaker will be Pastor Candace Brim of A Glorious Church in Collinsville. She is the wife of Pastor Chip Brim and daughterin- law of well-known Bible teacher Dr. Billye Brim. She will be speaking Friday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. and again Saturday, Sept. 23, at 9 a.m.

Pastor Colleen Litsey of Jubilee Christian Center and founder of Anchor of Hope Women’s Ministry will speak at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

On Saturday, there will be an intermission at noon that consists of a free luncheon. To ensure there is enough food for every lady attending, pre-register at www.anchorofhopeokmulgee. com or by calling 918-756-5338. Pre-register today to ensure your free lunch and free gift! Please note that childcare will not be available during the conference.

Pastor Colleen Litsey spent several years as a volunteer chaplain at a women’s prison. It was during this time that she felt God’s call upon her life to help the women being released from prison and entering back into society.

Her research showed that Oklahoma has the highest rate of females who repeat the initial offense that put them in prison to begin with. From 1978 to 2017, there was a 20-fold increase, with many women returning to prison for the same- or near same offense. With 993 of 1,000 repeat offenders, Oklahoma has the highest rate of repeat offenders in our nation.

These statistics caused her to respond to God’s call for the special ministry she has founded: Anchor of Hope Ministries (AOH) – which provides transitional homes and support groups for women which will help reduce repeat offenses.

AOH has multiple programs in place to help previously incarcerated women get their much-needed documents such as birth certificates, social security cards, driver’s licenses, etc. AOH also assists these women with obtaining legal, medical, dental, and psychological help, life skills, continued education, clothing and job placement.

Pastor Colleen and AOH are continuing to raise money for the Hope House – the first of three transitional homes in Okmulgee for women coming out of prison. Construction has begun and plans are to have it completed by the end of 2023. This will allow eight women to be home by Christmas!

If you would like to donate to the Hope House, you can do so by visiting www.anchorofhopeokmulgee. com. AOH is a 501c3 non profit organization so all donations are tax-deductible.

To stay up to date on all that Anchor of Hope Women’s Ministry is doing follow on Facebook: @AOHWomens-Ministry and on YouTube: @ anchorofhopewomensministry- okm — About Pastor Candace Brim Candace has been in fulltime ministry for 20 years with her husband Chip. Together, they were called to train up Champions for Christ (C4C). They became senior pastors of A Glorious Church in 2018.

Pastor Candace will also be our guest speaker for our regular service on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
