Lady Dragons, Lady Tigers finish unbeaten at Wilson Softball Festival

Okmulgee County fastpitch softball teams Dewar and Wilson came away with perfect 4-0 records at last week’s Wilson Softball Festival.

The four wins for the host Wilson Lady Tigers came against Mounds (5-3) and Earlsboro (8-0) last Thursday and Porter (4-1) and Wetumka (62) last Friday.

The Dewar Lady Dragons began their journey towards a spotless festival record last Thursday with shutout wins over Mounds (9-0) and Porter (150), then earned wins over Mason (10-0) and Earlsboro (21-1) on Friday.

Both county squads were in action Monday with Dewar hosting Weleetka and Wilson traveling to Wewoka. The two county teams went to battle on Tuesday at Wilson, while Dewar closed out the week at the Depew Tournament Thursday- Saturday. In Dewar’s opening festival game last Thursday against Mounds, the Lady Dragons opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first. The Dewar squad added a run in each of the next three innings and four in the fifth for a 9-0 advantage.

The top hitters for the Lady Dragons against Mounds were Marti Yaerger (2 for 4, 2 singles, RBI) and Raygin Thomas (2 for 2, single, double, 2 RBIs) with two hits apiece.

The other Dewar base hits came on singles by Brailee England and Jaycie Berry, RBI single by Alyssa Baughman, 2-run single by Bre Harvell, and 2-run home run by Kinsey Maldonado. Maldonado’s roundtripper came in the 4-run fifth.

Other baserunners for the Lady Dragons in the shutout win over Mounds were Thomas (walk), Harvell (walk), England (walk), and Baughman (walk).

In Dewar’s run-rule win over Porter last Thursday, the Lady Dragons opened the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the first, then added eight in the second for the 15-0 decision.

The top offensive performers for Dewar against Porter were Kinsey Maldonado (3 for 3, single, double, home run, 4 RBIs) and Brooke Thomas (3 for 3, 3 singles, 2 RBIs) with three hits each. Maldonado’s home run came on a 2-run blast in the second.

Other Lady Dragon batters with a multi-hit game against Porter were Raygin Thomas (2 for 2, 2 doubles, walk), Bre Harvell (2 for 3, single, double, RBI), Alyssa Baughman (2 for 2, single, double, 2 RBIs), and Jaycie Berry (2 for 2, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) with two hits apiece.

The final Dewar base hit against Porter came on a solo home run in the first by Marti Yaerger.

Jaycee DeTurk recorded RBI groundouts in the first and second innings for the Lady Dragons in the shutout win.

In Dewar’s shutout win over Mason last Friday, the Lady Dragons jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Dewar squad ended the game on the run rule with eight runs in the home half of the fourth, awarding the Lady Dragons the 10-0 decision.

The top offensive performer for the Dewar ladies against Mason was Kinsey Maldonado, who finished 3 for 3 with two singles, a double, and an RBI.

Marti Yaerger (2 for 3, single, triple, RBI), Raygin Thomas (2 for 3, single, triple, 3 RBIs), Bre Harvell (2 for 3, single, triple, 2 RBIs), and Korbyn Anderson (2 for 2, 2 singles, RBI) also recorded multi-hit games for the Lady Dragons with two hits apiece.

The remaining base hits for Dewar against Mason came on a single by Brailee England and RBI singles by Jaycie Berry and Alyssa Baughman.

In Dewar’s thrashing of Earlsboro last Friday, the Lady Dragons opened the scoring with 10 runs in the bottom of the first. The Dewar offense erupted for 11 runs in the home half of the second for a convincing 21-0 advantage after two innings of action. Earlsboro tallied its lone run in the top of the third to award the Dewar squad the 21-1, run-rule, victory.

Bre Harvell was the top hitter for the Lady Dragons against Earlsboro, finishing 3 for 3 with a single, double, triple, and 6 RBIs.

Marti Yaerger also had a multi-hit game for Dewar in the run-rule win, finishing 2 for 3 with a single, triple, and 4 RBIs.

The other Lady Dragon base hits against Earlsboro came on singles by Raygin Thomas and Dakota Duke, RBI single by Alyssa Baughman, and 2-run single by Brailee England.

Other Dewar baserunners in the run-rule win were Thomas (2 walks, 2 RBIs), Harvell (walk), Duke (2 walks), Kinsey Maldonado (3 walks, RBI), Jaycie Berry (walk, RBI fielder’s choice), Cali Thomason (2 walks, RBI), Jaycee DeTurk (3 walks, 2 RBIs), and Korbyn Anderson (2 hit by pitches).

In Wilson’s opening win against Mounds, the Lady Tigers opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first.

Mounds cut the Wilson lead in half, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the first, while Wilson regained its 2-run lead, 3-1, with a run in the top of the second.

Both teams tallied two runs in their half of the third for a 5-3 advantage for the Lady Tigers, while neither team was able to produce any runs in the fourth to award the host Wilson squad the 5-3 victory after the time limit expired after the conclusion of the fourth inning.

The Lady Tigers finished with two hits in the contest – a triple by Janelle Proctor and an RBI single by Kaozong Yang.

Other Wilson baserunners against Mounds were Yang (walk), Jasmine Proctor (walk), Kaylee Earhart (walk), Jayda Pinkston (walk), and Ty Williams (walk).

Janelle Proctor drove in the lone Wilson run in the second with an RBI groundout, while Jamie Proctor (RBI sacrifice fly) and Gracie Bear (RBI groundout) were responsible for the two Lady Tiger runs in the first.

In Wilson’s shutout win over Earlsboro last Thursday, the Lady Tigers began the scoring with six runs in the bottom of the first, then added two in the second for the 8-run advantage.

Neither team tallied any runs in their half of the third, while the Wilson defense kept Earlsboro off the scoreboard in the top of the fourth for the 8-0 decision.

The top hitter for the Lady Tigers against Earlsboro was Gracie Bear, who finished 2 for 3 with two singles and an RBI.

The other base hits for Wilson in the shutout win came on singles by Jamie Proctor, Jasmine Proctor, Kaylee Earhart, triple by Kaozong Yang, and 2-run double by Janelle Proctor.

Other Lady Tiger baserunners against Earlsboro were Yang (RBI walk), Jamie Proctor (walk), Kaylee Earhart (walk), Jayda Pinkston (walk), Ty Williams (2 walks), and Alyna Earhart (walk, RBI hit by pitch). Pinkston also had an RBI groundout in the second.

In Wilson’s narrow win over Porter last Friday, the lone Porter run came in the top of the third.

The host Lady Tigers opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first, then tallied a run in the home half of the second and added an insurance run in the last of the fourth for the 4-1 decision.

Jayda Pinkston was the top hitter for the Wilson squad against Porter, finishing 2 for 2 with a pair of singles.

The other Lady Tiger base hits in the narrow win came on singles by Janelle Proctor, Jamie Proctor, Jasmine Proctor, and Alyna Earhart and a double by Ty Williams.

In Wilson’s victory over Wetumka last Friday, the Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first.

Wetumka plated a run in the top of the second, while Wilson answered with four runs in the home half of the second for a 6-1 advantage after two innings of action.

After a scoreless third and fourth innings, Wetumka managed just one run in the top of the fifth to award the host Lady Tigers with the 6-2 victory after four and one-half innings due to the time limit expiring.

Janelle Proctor led the offensive output for the Wilson ladies against Wetumka, finishing 2 for 3 with a single, double, and 2 RBIs.

The other Lady Tiger base hits in the victory came on singles by Kaylee Earhart and Ty Williams, double by Jamie Proctor, 2-run double by Jasmine Proctor, and 2-run triple by Gracie Bear.

Other baserunners against Wetumka were Jasmine Proctor (walk), Kaozong Yang (walk), and Alyna Earhart (2 walks).
