The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate a deputy involved shooting. According to Sheriff Eddy Rice, around 3:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a domestic-type incident in the 15000 block of Old Hwy. 75, near North 252 Rd.
The suspect, identified as Matthew Guffey, 43, was shot by a deputy during the encounter, and died.
Sheriff Rice stated the matter was immediately turned over to the OSBI, and the district attorney was apprised of the incident.
“We are just waiting for the determination from the OSBI,” the sheriff said. The officer involved in the incident is on leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
According to Sheriff Rice, Guffey was just released from prison on Friday, May 5.
