Who Will Win?

County residents seeking to cast their votes early for the April 4 City and Municipal races can do so today until 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Courthouse, at the Election Board office.

City council posts on the line on April 4

County residents seeking to cast their votes early for the April 4 City and Municipal races can do so today until 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Courthouse, at the Election Board office.

Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary Ashley Carnes reminds citizens that early voting is open to all registered voters, and anyone with an address within the city limit boundaries and/or school district boundaries are eligible to vote in the April 4 election.

Precinct locations will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Okmulgee, Beggs, Henryetta and Dewar all have municipal elections, while Henryetta, Haskell, Midway, Mounds and Indian Capital Tech Center all have school board positions on the ballot.

City of Okmulgee residents will decide on a Ward 2 representative - incumbent Steven Baldridge or challenger Rose Lynch.

Henryetta residents have a large slate of candidates vying for city council Wards 1 and 2. The top vote getter will join the board.

Carnes reminds voters that while ballot “selfies” or taking photographs of a marked ballot are legal, voters may not share or distribute the image through social media or by any other means while inside the election enclosure. Voters must wait until they leave their polling place before posting or sharing the picture with anyone. Improper use of the photo could result in a violation of the law. Voters may not use the image to coerce, influence, or intimidate another voter. Carnes said disclosing how you voted with anyone while inside the election enclosure is illegal. In addition, you may not remove a ballot from the polling place. Electioneering is prohibited within 300 feet of any ballot box while an election is in progress. This includes wearing or bringing visible campaign- related paraphernalia into the election enclosure.

No one except election officials and voters waiting to vote is allowed within 50 feet of any ballot box on Election Day.

Voters are reminded that consuming alcohol of any kind or quantity within one-half mile of a polling place on Election Day is prohibited.

For questions, please get in touch with the Election Board at 918756-2365 or OkmulgeeCounty@ elections. ok.gov.
