The Henryetta varsity track and field program will begin its 2023 season Friday at the annual John ‘JP’ Phillipe Invitational.
The home meet will take place at the Henryetta Public School track and field facilities, located on the campus of Henryetta High School, east of the Henryetta Event Center and is expected to have a sizeable turnout and feature some of the best track and field teams from across the state.
The John ‘JP’ Invitational in Henryetta will get started with a coaches meeting at 9 a.m. with field events getting underway at 9:30 a.m. and running events beginning at 10 a.m.
Schools that wanted to be a part of the annual John ‘JP’ Phillipe Invitational in Henryetta had until 1 p.m. on Thursday to submit their entry request on the ENDURO USA™ website: www.endurousa.com. No entries were accepted after the deadline.
There will be two divisions at the Henryetta meet: 3A and Below Boys and 3A and Below Girls.
Team points will be awarded to the Top 6 teams in each division at both meets, using the following format: --- Individual Events 1st Place: 10 points 2nd Place: 8 points 3rd Place: 6 points 4th Place: 4 points 5th Place: 2 points 6th Place: 1 point --- Relay Events
1st Place: 20 points 2nd Place: 16 points 3rd Place: 12 points 4th Place: 8 points 5th Place: 4 points 6th Place: 2 points Trophies will be awarded to the team champion and team runner-up in each division at both meets and a “Coaches Award” will be given to the winning coach for both boys and girls teams.
