Varsity track and field teams from Beggs and Okmulgee began the 2023 season last Friday at the Glenpool Invitational.

The Beggs Golden Demons were the top county team at the event, finishing 12th overall with 18 team points.
The top county individuals at the meet were Beggs’ Evin Kemp, who took home the silver medal in the Boys Discus with a toss of 136 feet, 5 inches, and Logan Hicks, who was runner-up in the Boys High Jump with a height of 6 feet. Hicks finished tied with Coweta’s Brendan Badie at 6 feet, but Badie cleared the height in fewer attempts to take home the individual championship medal.
Okmulgee’s Amerria Fourshey was the top individual performer from the county in the girls division, finishing 17th overall in the 200 meter dash.
Beggs’ top individual performer in the girls division at Glenpool was Chasity Clay, who finished 19th overall in the 800 meter run and 20th overall in the 400 meter run.
Okmulgee’s top individual performer in the boys division at Glenpool was Larry Yahola, who finished 10th overall in the 400 meter run.
