Okmulgee County 4-H held their Cupcake Wars Contest on Jan. 27 at the Preston Elementary School Cafeteria. The contest was hosted by Julie Norem, leader of Preston 4-H; Lorena Ballard, leader of Preston Cloverbuds; Cassie Sharp, Preston Elementary Principal and Mark Hudson, Superintendent of Preston Schools.

Okmulgee County 4-H held their Cupcake Wars Contest on Jan. 27 at the Preston Elementary School Cafeteria. The contest was hosted by Julie Norem, leader of Preston 4-H; Lorena Ballard, leader of Preston Cloverbuds; Cassie Sharp, Preston Elementary Principal and Mark Hudson, Superintendent of Preston Schools.
Contestants ranged from ages 5-14. Participants had 30 minutes to set up, decorate cupcakes and clean up the area. All cupcakes were decorated on the premises, and all things on the cupcakes had to be edible.
Students used fondant, glazed sugar, paper sugar, icing, bought decorations and creative props to show talents.
This was the second year for holding the cupcake wars, and the first to include Cloverbuds. The night was a great success, hosting 10 teams of 2-3 contes- tants.
The winners were: 1st Place - Kylie Brandt, Kaylee Johnson and Rhyan Johnson of Schulter 2nd Place - Kaitlynn Alexander and Felix LeBlanc of Preston 3rd Place - Olivia Craig and Winzley Bussey of Henryetta Only Juniors place, and all Cloverbuds received participation ribbons. First place winners will go to District Contest Days held in June.
