Free Community Dinner

Wilson Baptist Church will host a Free Community Dinner on Friday, Jan. 27 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

All meals provided will be to-go and should be picked up.

If you would like a meal, please text your name and the number of meals to 918-237-6256.

All meals can be picked up beginning at 5 p.m. Wilson Baptist Church is located at 8849 Chestnut Road in Henryetta.

Henryetta Elementary Winter Wonderland Dance

Henryetta Elementary School (HES) will host a Winter Wonderland Elementary Dance on Friday, Jan. 27 in the elementary gym.

Volunteers are still needed for the dance. Any parent who would like to volunteer should contact the Henryetta PTO.

The dance will be held for 1st through 3rd grade students from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and for 4th through 5th grade students from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Admission will be $3 per student. Concessions of pizza, snacks and beverages will be available.

Jan. 28

Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser

Tulledega Hills Gospel Music Theater in Henryetta will host a Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Charli Rae, Manager of the bakery and deli at Homeland for the past six years.

A lifelong resident of Henryetta, Charli was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of four heart defects. Her first surgery was at 18 months old.

She will have another heart surgery on Feb. 2. The meal will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and a dessert for $10.

Both delivery and pickup will be available by calling 918-707-0343.

All money raised will be donated to Charli Rae. Tulledega Hills Theater is located at 3000 W. Main Street.

State of the Nation Address

Muscogee (Creek) Nation will host the State of the Nation Address on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Mound Building Auditorium located at Hwy. 75 and Loop 56.

The Honorable Principal Chief David W. Hill, Second Chief Del Beaver and the Muscogee (Creek) National Council encourage attendance.

Refreshments will be served. No information has been provided as of press time as to whether the event will be live streamed for those unable to attend.

Feb. 3

County Democrats & Republicans Candidate Forum

Okmulgee County Democratic and Okmulgee County Republican party committees are sponsoring a forum for candidates running for the Okmulgee City Council Ward 2 position.

The forum will be held on Friday, Feb. 3 in the OSUIT Student Union Harlan and First National Bank meeting rooms at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Participating candidates include incumbent Steve Baldridge, Kathy Maloney Barton, Steve Diamond and Rose Lynch.

Candidates will answer questions developed by the two parties, along with responding to questions from the floor.

The Okmulgee City Council election is Tuesday, Feb. 14 with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All registered voters living in Okmulgee city limits are eligible to vote.

Absentee ballot deadline is Jan. 30 for the Feb. 14 election and ballots can be obtained by visiting okvoterportal.okelections.us/ or contacting the County Election Board at 918-756-2365.

Feb. 7

Valentine’s Day Fundraiser

McIntosh Tumbling (MT) in Henryetta recently announced their annual Valentine’s Day fundraiser is under way.

Once again, chocolate-covered strawberries are being offered for $15 per dozen. Six strawberries will be covered in white chocolate and the other six will be covered in milk chocolate.

“Get your sweetheart a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day while helping out some fantastic athletes in our community,” Katie Thompson, owner of McIntosh Tumbling said.

Orders and money are both due by the end of day on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Deliveries will be made on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14.

All funds raised will go to benefit the competition team to help with expenses when they attend nationals.

Feb. 12

Indian Taco Fundraiser

An Indian Taco Dinner Fundraiser will be held for the local Oklahoma Knuckleheads 10U baseball teams on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dewar Town Hall.

Free delivery will be available to Henryetta, Dewar and Schulter for orders of four or more.

Meals include an Indian taco, dessert and a drink for $10. In addition, a bowl of beans and fry bread will be available for $5.

Oklahoma Knuckleheads are not a pay to play team. All funds raised will go to support the teams for equipment and other needed items for the 2023 season.

Elderly Nutrition Meals

MC Nutrition Services located at 211 S. 11th Street in Henryetta provides meals to those ages 60 and older Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a $1.50 donation.

All senior citizens in the community are encouraged to join in a nutricious and dellicious meal.

Angels In Recovery

It’s hard to fight alone. Angels in Recovery is a group designed for women only. Fight your addiction with other women who know the fight you’re facing.

Join Angels in Recovery every Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the Youth Building at the Henryetta Nazarene Church located on the corner of 7th and Trudgeon.

'Rez Recovery” Saturdays

'Rez Recovery' AA meetings with Casey Thomas will be held every Saturday at 4 p.m. at Tulledega Hills Theater located at 3000 W. Main Street in Henryetta.

Worn Flags Sought

Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 is currently collecting used and worn flags that will be properly disposed of during a flag retirement ceremony that is to be announced sometime in the future.

Flags can be dropped off at the Henryetta Free-Lance office located at 302 W. Main Street.

“Instead of throwing away your American flag,” Post 539 Vice Commander Hugh “Rooster” Jackson said, “bring them to the Free-Lance office so we can provide a suitable retirement.”

Community Breakfast

Tulledega Masonic Lodge No. 201 in Henryetta will host a Community Breakfast on the third Saturday of each month.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for $8 per person.

Lodge No. 201 is located at 402 E. Trudgeon.

NA Recovery Group

Henryetta Nazarene’s New Life Recovery Group will host NA meetings on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.

Meetings will be held in the Youth Building at the church located at 7th and Trudgeon.

The meetings are open to anyone struggling with addiction or family members of those struggling.

Freedom Warriors NA Meetings

Joy In Life Freedom Warriors will host NA meetings every Monday at 7 p.m. at 611 E. Trudgeon in Henryetta.

“You don’t have to battle alone,” Pastor James Page said. “Come connect on Monday nights and gain the strength to succeed.”

Those attending should enter the building through the glass door entrance.

Church of Christ Food Bank

Henryetta Church of Christ hosts their Food Bank on the second Thursday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The church is located at 413 W. Broadway.

FCC Food Pantry

First Christian Church of Henryetta will host a Food Pantry on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 10 a.m. “Nobody in Henryetta should go hungry.” FCC is located at 412 N. 5th Street.

Computer Giveaway by PC Memories, Inc.

PC Memories, Inc., a non-profit corporation, donates refurbished desktop and laptop computers to low income families with children as well as adults, seniors and veterans who live in Okmulgee County.
