National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) Chapter 730 announced their first monthly meeting for the new year will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12 at Shoney’s Restaurant in Henryetta at 11 a.m.

The featured guest speaker will be Kay Thompson, the wife of Senator Roger Thompson, who together own the Okemah News Leader.

Kay will discuss the significant importance and impact of local newspapers as key sources for local, county, state and also national news.

Any and all active or retired federal employees and guests are welcome and invited to attend this informative meeting.

Jan. 21

Gospel Bluegrass Concert

Tulledega Hills Music Theater will host Cross Creek Bluegrass Gospel in concert on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.

This concert is free and open to everyone. Tulledega Hills is located at 3000 W. Main Street in Henryetta.

Elderly Nutrition Meals

MC Nutrition Services located at 211 S. 11th Street in Henryetta provides meals to those ages 60 and older Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a $1.50 donation.

All senior citizens in the community are encouraged to join in a nutricious and dellicious meal.

Angels In Recovery

It’s hard to fight alone. Angels in Recovery is a group designed for women only. Fight your addiction with other women who know the fight you’re facing.

Join Angels in Recovery every Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the Youth Building at the Henryetta Nazarene Church located on the corner of 7th and Trudgeon.

Win your battle!

'Rez Recovery” Saturdays

'Rez Recovery' AA meetings with Casey Thomas will be held every Saturday at 4 p.m. at Tulledega Hills Theater located at 3000 W. Main Street in Henryetta.

Worn Flags Sought

Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 is currently collecting used and worn flags that will be properly disposed of during a flag retirement ceremony that is to be announced sometime in the future.

Flags can be dropped off at the Henryetta Free-Lance office located at 302 W. Main Street.

“Instead of throwing away your American flag,” Post 539 Vice Commander Hugh “Rooster” Jackson said, “bring them to the Free-Lance office so we can provide a suitable retirement.”

Community Breakfast

Tulledega Masonic Lodge No. 201 in Henryetta will host a Community Breakfast on the third Saturday of each month.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for $8 per person.

Lodge No. 201 is located at 402 E. Trudgeon.

NA Recovery Group

Henryetta Nazarene’s New Life Recovery Group will host NA meetings on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.

Meetings will be held in the Youth Building at the church located at 7th and Trudgeon.

The meetings are open to anyone struggling with addiction or family members of those struggling.

Freedom Warriors NA Meetings

Joy In Life Freedom Warriors will host NA meetings every Monday at 7 p.m. at 611 E. Trudgeon in Henryetta.

“You don’t have to battle alone,” Pastor James Page said. “Come connect on Monday nights and gain the strength to succeed.”

Those attending should enter the building through the glass door entrance.

Church of Christ Food Bank

Henryetta Church of Christ hosts their Food Bank on the second Thursday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The church is located at 413 W. Broadway.

FCC Food Pantry

First Christian Church of Henryetta will host a Food Pantry on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 10 a.m. “Nobody in Henryetta should go hungry.” FCC is located at 412 N. 5th Street.

Computer Giveaway by PC Memories, Inc.

PC Memories, Inc., a non-profit corporation, donates refurbished desktop and laptop computers to low income families with children as well as adults, seniors and veterans who live in Okmulgee County.

Applications are available at the Henryetta and Okmulgee Public libraries or online at www.okmulgeepc.com.

American Legion Post 85

New Eligibility: Dec. 7, 1941 – current, honorable discharge. Member meetings will be held the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m.
