The Wilson varsity basketball program dropped a pair of road contests Monday evening in Weleetka.

The Lady Tigers found themselves on the losing end of a 59-43 outcome in the opening contest on Monday, while the Tigers were unable to salvage a sweep in the nightcap, falling to the host Outlaws by a 52-46 margin.

The Wilson cage squads were back in action Thursday evening with a trip to Mounds and a showdown with the Mounds Golden Eagles and Lady Eagles.

In Monday’s girls game at Weleetka, the Lady Tigers trailed 14-10 after one and 30-23 at halftime.

Both teams put up 12 points in the third quarter for a 42-35 lead for the host Lady Outlaws, then Weleetka took the final frame by a 17-8 margin to hand the visitors from Wilson the 59-43 defeat.

The Lady Tigers were led offensively by the duo of Gracie Bear and Brooklyn Weeks with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Other Wilson scorers in the road game were Janelle Proctor with six, Jayda Pinkston five, Jaslene Proctor four, and Kaozong Yang two.

In Monday’s boys contest, the host Outlaws took the first two frames by margins of 18-13 and 15-10, respectively, to put the visiting Tigers in a 10-point deficit at halftime, 33-23.

The Wilson gentlemen cut the Weleetka lead to seven, 39-32, after three quarters of play with a 9-6 advantage in the third period.

The Tigers’ second-half comeback bid was thwarted, however, in the final frame when the Wilson cagers managed a 14-13 margin in the final stanza to suffer the 52-46 setback.

Charles Shelburn led a trio of double-digit scorers for Wilson in the road loss, finishing with a teamhigh 15 points. Keshon Shelburn and Ryder Herring were next offensively for the Tigers with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
