The 2022 regular-season schedule for all six Okmulgee County varsity football programs concluded Thursday evening.

The final regular-season game of 2022 will feature one county team seeking to punch their ticket to the postseason and three other squads looking to begin the playoffs next week in front of their hometown fans.

The other two county teams will meet in Okmulgee where the winner is guaranteed to end 2022 on a winning note.

Editor’s Note: All six county teams were in action on Thursday, due to the threat of inclement weather in the forecast for Friday across the state.

The county teams that played for bragging rights in Week 10 were the Okmulgee Bulldogs and Morris Eagles, who entered the regular-season finale with identical 2-7 season records and 0-6 district records.

The Henryetta Golden Knights entered their regular-season finale at home against Keys needing a win over the winless Cougars to guarantee a spot in the playoffs for the first ime since 2016. The Knights can also reach the postseason with an Okemah loss to Prague on Thursday. A loss to Keys and an Okemah win over Prague will end any playoff chances for the Henryetta squad in 2022.

The other three county teams - Beggs Golden Demons, Dewar Dragons, and Wilson Tigers - have already punched their tickets to the postseason and will look to secure home playoff games next week with wins in their regular-season finales.

Beggs punched its playoff ticket last Friday with a narrow 28-20 win over Morris, while Dewar and Wilson secured their postseason berths without even taking the field last week, earning forfeit wins over Midway and South Coffeyville, respectively.

Beggs hosted Sperry on Thursday where a Beggs victory and a Kiefer win over Victory Christian will award the Demons the second spot in District 2A-7 and a home game in next week’s Class 2A playoff opener. Beggs can also grab the second spot in the district with a win over Sperry by at least 15 points and a Kiefer loss to Victory Christian by at least 15 points.

A Beggs loss to Sperry and a Victory Christian win over Kiefer will drop the Demons to fourth in the 2A-7 standings.

The other playoff scenarios involving the Demons are as follows:

• Beggs will be third with a Victory Christian loss and a Beggs loss by six or fewer points.

• Beggs will be fourth with a Victory Christian loss and a Beggs loss by seven or more points.

Dewar closed out its regular-season schedule at home against the Caddo Bruins. The Dragons can grab their sixth-straight (30th overall) district championship and back-to-back home playoff games with a win over the Bruins. A Dewar loss, coupled with a Quinton loss to Webbers Falls, will drop the Dragons into the second spot in B-5 and a home playoff game next week, while a loss to Caddo and a Quinton win over Webbers Falls will force a

3-way tie with a list of tiebreakers being used to determine the Top 3 spots. Wilson has earned its second postseason berth in school history in 2022 and will lock up second in District C-3 with a road win over Watts on Thursday. The Tigers can lose to Watts and still finish second with a Coyle loss to Wesleyan Christian, as Wilson holds the tiebreaker with Coyle due to a 48--

14 win on September 22.

Kickoff for Week 10’s contests featuring Okmulgee County varsity football teams is scheduled for

7 p.m.
