Junior Bulldogs to host Guthrie for 4-game battle
The Okmulgee Junior Football Association will be at the friendly confines of historic Harmon Field in Okmulgee for the next two Saturdays.
The Junior Bulldogs will host the Guthrie Bluejays in a 4-game schedule this Saturday and will also be at home next Saturday (October 15), welcoming the Meeker Bulldogs to town for a 4-game meeting.
Both home games will begin with third-grade action at 12 p.m., followed by fourth-grade contests at 1:30 p.m.
The final two contests during the 2-week homestand will see the fifth-grade team take the field at 3 p.m. and the sixth-grade squad goes to battle at 4:30 p.m.
In the previous two weeks, the OJFA squads have traveled to Perkins (September 24) and Mc-Loud (October 1).
At Perkins, the Junior Bulldogs came away with a 3-1 record with the lone loss coming in the third-grade contest - a 20-0 shutout to the host Bandits.
The fourth-grade Okmulgee squad slipped past Perkins by a narrow 6-0 margin, while the fifth and sixth-grade teams remained undefeated in 2022 with double- digit wins of 38-28 and 34-0, respectively. The Junior Bulldogs also came away with a 3-1 record last Saturday in McLoud with the lone Okmulgee setback coming in the fourth-place game - a 20-0 shutout loss.
The third-grade squad evened its season record at 2-2 with a 24-10 victory in the opening contest, while the fifth and sixth-grade teams continued their winning ways with identical 38-0 victories in the final two games last Saturday.
After the back-to-back home dates, the Junior Bulldogs will close out their 2022 regular-season schedule October 22 at Bristow.
