Jett Swallow notches Eagle on final hole to win U.S. Kids Tournament

It takes professional golfers years to perfect their craft.

For Jett Swallow, the Henryetta youth had his best game two weekends ago.

Swallow stepped on the Page Belcher Golf Course in Tulsa on September 18 for his second U.S. Kids Golf Foundation tournament during the Fall 2022 tour.

At the 9-hole event, Swallow finished with a 4-under 32 at the Par-36 course.

The Henryetta youth found himself in a battle with Yukon’s Connor Blakely throughout the tournament, sitting four shots back after the first three holes.

Swallow went into the final hole trailing Blakely by one shot - 3-under to 2-under - needing an Eagle score on the Par-5 No. 9 in order to come away with the tournament victory.

Blakely finished the final hole with a Par to finish with a 3-under 33.

Swallow placed his second shot on No. 9 just 15 feet from the pin. Swallow lined up his putt and calmly sent the ball towards the No. 9 flag. Swallow’s putt attempt was on mark and dropped into the bottom of the hole for the tournament-winning eagle, giving the Henryetta youth the thrilling tournament championship.

Swallow began the tournament carding three-straight pars on the first three holes to sit at even-par, while Blakely carded an eagle and back-to-back birdies on the first three holes to sit at 4-under.

On the middle three holes, Swallow fired a birdie on No. 4, then carded back-to-back par putts to sit at 1-under after six holes.

Blakely fired scores of par, bogey, and par, respectively, on the middle three holes to sit at 3-under with three holes remaining.

On the Par-4, 125-yard, No. 7, Swallow and Blakely carded birdies to keep Blakely two shots ahead of the Henryetta youth.

On the Par-3, 70-yard, No. 8, Swallow scored par on the hole, while Blakely carded a bogey, setting up the thrilling showdown on the final hole with Swallow sitting one stroke behind Blakely.

Prior to winning the Page Belcher Tournament, Swallow began his U.S. Kids Golf Foundation career on August 28, battling at the Battle Creek Golf Course in Broken Arrow.

At his first-ever golf tournament, Swallow finished second behind Blakely, scoring a 4-over 40. Blakely was three strokes ahead of the Henryetta youth with a 1-over 37.

This past Sunday, Swallow competed at the Bailey Ranch Tournament at the Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso, finishing third with a 12-over 48.

After three tournaments, Swallow sits in third place in the Boys 6-Under division with 65 points.

The remaining tournaments on the Fall 2022 schedule are as follows:

• Heritage Hills Golf Course - October 2, 2022

• Pryor Creek Golf Course - October 16, 2022

• Rock Creek Golf Course - October 23, 2022

• Mohawk Park Golf Club (Tour Championship) - October 30, 2022 ---
