The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity fastpitch softball team were held scoreless in their final regular- season game Tuesday evening against the Bristow Lady Pirates.
The Lady Knights were unable to get their offense going in their 8-0 loss to Bristow, finishing with just four hits in their fourth shutout loss of the 2022 campaign.
The Henryetta squad began postseason play Thursday in Kiefer at the Class 3A Region 5 regional tournament, taking on the Tahlequah Sequoyah Lady Indians in an opening-round contest. A win over Tahlequah Sequoyah would have put the Lady Knights in Thursday’s regional tournament winner’s bracket finals at 6 p.m. against the winner of the other first-round game on Thursday between Heavener and the host Kiefer Lady Trojans. A loss to Tahlequah Sequoyah would have dropped Henryetta into an elimination game Thursday at 4 p.m. against the loser of Heavener and Kiefer.
In Tuesday’s shutout loss to Bristow, McKayla Greenhaw accounted for three-fourths of the Lady Knights’ offensive output, finishing 3 for 3 in the contest with three singles.
The only other Henryetta base hit Tuesday came on a single by Brooklyn Baughman.
Bristow opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the first, then added a run in each of the third and fourth innings and put the finishing touches on the 8-run total with two runs in the top of the sixth.
