Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 Retired Commander Bill Goodner announced a variety of medical equipment is available for area veterans, their families and local residents in need.
“VFW’s primary obligation is to support veterans, their widows and children,” Goodner said. “We also have an obligation to help our community wherever we can, so we intend to provide available hospital equipment to any family in need.”
Available equipment includes hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs and more.
“If you are in need of any equipment listed but cannot pick it up, we can deliver it,” Goodner said. “When you don’t need the items anymore, just call us and we’ll pick it back up.”
After the items are returned to the VFW, they are cleaned thoroughly and cannot anymore, back up.” to cleaned thoroughly and go back on the available list for another family.
“It is a shame we have so much equipment just sitting in storage when items could be used,” Goodner said.
Post 539 Vice Commander Hugh “Rooster” Jackson and Goodner also want to give thanks for those supporting the VFW throughout the year.
“We want to give a big thank you for all the financial support and donations that have been given us through Veterans Day and our Poppy Drive,” Goodner said.
“All donations allow us to purchase flags for Westlawn and other area cemeteries as well as maintain, upkeep and replace flags on Main Street,” Jackson said.
