Henryetta School Board approves one resignation

Henryetta Board of Education accepted a letter of resignation from Nikki Dwiggins during their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening.
Dwiggins held the position of Pre-School Aide.
Superintendent Dwayne Noble announced the entire district had zero deficiencies according to a report sent from the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
Henryetta FFA Advisor Brooke Smith gave an update on FFA activities.
She announced FFA member Joey Watson will be the first student within the chapter to receive the prestigious State FFA Degree during FFA Nationals in Indianapolis in October.
“Our students have raised between $4,000 and $5,000 to be able to attend Nationals which start Oct. 27,” Smith said. “All registration fees, hotel rooms and meals will be completely covered.”
Board members approved allowing FFA to utilize the school suburban to travel to the annual national event.
Smith also highlighted the accomplishments of several FFA students in the Okmulgee County Fair.
Other agenda items approved included:
• Encumbrances and financial reports for 20212022 and 2022-2023.
• Fundraisers for 2022-2023.
• Estimate of Needs for 2022-2023.
• ARP ESSER Use of Funds Plan for 2022-2023.
• Renewal of a Lease/Purchase Agreement between Henryetta Public Schools and Bank of Oklahoma Financial for lighting upgrades and equipment.
• Renewal of employment of Stephen L. Smith Corp., who handles all bond sales, as financial consultants to the school district for 2022-2023.
• School days and hours for 2022-2023 which total 1,091.5 hours. Law recommends a minimum of 1,080 hours.
• Renewal quote with Follette School Solutions for technical support and maintenance for the 20222023 school year. They provide support for the system students use to check out books.

• Surplus of old high school Chemistry books. Harold Fox, School Maintenance Director, said the district will begin accepting bids soon for paving and upgrades to the roadway around the school. Bids are set to be opened and reviewed on Oct. 10.
Henryetta Elementary School Principal Roger Williams announced benchmark, math and reading testing has been concluded in time for this weeks parent/teacher conferences. The conferences will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. 12 p.m.
He also noted he has started additional training and the elementary Big Kahuna Fundraiser is under way.
Jeremy Strickland, HHS Principal, announced the RAVE panic button is now online. The button, which utilizes the geo-location of the campus, including the ball fields, to contact emergency responders in the event an emergency occurs.
As the month of September is Suicide Prevention Month, the high school has addressed important issues including awareness, accessibility and education and provided informationabout the signs of suicide and what to do if a student or someone is showing suicidal behaviors.
“Mrs. Hardgrave has created a QR code which students can request to see a counselor,” Strickland said. “An assembly will be held this month with Dr. Carter Green to speak about mental health.”
Strickland also noted and congratulated all of the students who have been working hard participating in athletics and other activities.
“I would like to say how proud I am of all of the students who are involved in extracurricular activities for keeping their grades up and working hard in their studies,” he said. “To date, 100% of our athletes, band and choir members, FFA members and Drama team have remained eligible to participate.”
Concluding his report, Principal Strickland reminded board members of the upcoming production of The Addams Family that will be held Oct. 27-30 in the HHS auditorium.
