Preston and Beggs renewed their rivalry on the softball field Monday evening in Beggs.
The visiting Preston Lady Pirates earned their 11th win of the 2022 campaign in the battle between Okmulgee County teams, defeating the host Beggs Lady Demons by a 17-0 margin.
Both teams were back in action on Tuesday with Preston traveling to Mounds and Beggs going to Holdenville.
In Monday’s county battle in Beggs, the visiting Lady Pirates broke a scoreless tie with nine runs in the top of the second then added eight runs in their half of the third for the 17-run victory.
The top hitters for the visitors from Preston were Taylan Starr (3 for 3, single, double, triple, 2 RBIs), Jadyn Roberts (3 for 3, single, double, triple, 4 RBIs), and Na’Braijhanae Phillips (3 for 3, 3 singles, 4 RBIs) with three hits apiece.
Emilie Stidman (2 for 3, 2 singles, RBI) and Josie Cope (2 for 2, 2 singles, RBI) also recorded multihit games for the Lady Pirates on Monday with two hits each. Cope also reached base on a hit by pitch.
The final three base hits for Preston at Beggs came on singles by Hallie Hinds and Jaiden Harley and an RBI single by Kinlee Basquez.
Other Lady Pirate baserunners in the county battle were Basquez (error), Hinds (RBI walk, hit by pitch), Harley (walk), and Celeste Pineda (RBI walk).
The host Lady Demons were held to just one hit in the contest - a 2-out single in the first inning by Emma Trimble.
Chloe Cooper reached on a 1-out walk in the third, while Ava Williams followed by reaching on a fielder’s choice in the inning.
