Henryetta shines at cross country opener

Kaler, Lollis pace HHS runners in Holdenville

The Henryetta cross country program began its 2022 season last Saturday at the Wolverine Invitational in Holdenville.

The Knights and Lady Knights sent a total of 20 athletes to the season- opening event. Henryetta was represented by six runners in each of the elementary and middle school divisions and eight in the high school division.

The top finishers in the high school division were Kenleigh Kaler on the girls side and Xander Lollis on the boys side. Kaler finished 12th overall in the varsity girls one-mile race, crossing the finish line in a time of 7:15.00. Teammate Camrynn Watkins was three spots behind Kaler in 15th with a time of 7:23.00.

In the varsity boys 2-mile race, Lollis was the top HHS runner with an 18th-place finish with a time of 13:48.00.

Parker Stockholm was the next Knight finisher at the season opener with a 38th-place finish with a time of 15:02.00, followed by Nick Crow in 40th place with a time of 15:17.00.

Other Henryetta finishers in the varsity boys 2-mile race at Holdenville were Michael Mayo in 45th (15:35.00), Ethan Goodner in 52nd (16:27.00), and Noah Huckaby in 53rd (16:40.00).

The top middle school runner for Henryetta at Holdenville last Saturday was Cadyn Gillispie in the boys one-mile run with an 11th-place finish and a time of 6:53.00. Luke Harlan was the only other Knight junior high runner at the season opener, finishing 34th overall with a time of 8:37.00.

The top Henryetta runner in the middle school girls one-mile race last Saturday was Avery Smith, finishing 33rd overall with a time of 8:49.00. Annika Kramer was one spot behind in 34th place, finishing the race with a time of 8:56.00, followed by Tiffany Guess in 38th with a time of 9:31.00.

Molly Arthur was the final finisher for Henryetta in the middle school girls race, finishing 58th overall with a time of 12:03.00.

The elementary runners ran in a mixed one-mile race in Holdenville.

The top HES runner in the season-opening event was Grayson Gillispie in 15th with a time of 7:35.98. Aziah King was next for Henryetta in the elementary race in 17th with a time of 7:40.00, followed by Darla Hendrick in 56th (9:13.00), Greer Blake in 57th (9:19.00), Blaike Gillispie in 88th (10:54.00), and Dixie Hendrick in 89th (10:54.86).

The next scheduled event for the Henryetta cross country program is Saturday at Claremore Sequoyah, followed by a September 3 trip to Okemah.
