The Preston Pirate fall baseball team returned to their winning ways earlier this week with three run-rule wins.
The Pirates (6-1) began the week with a 12-4 win over the Stuart Hornets Monday evening at Morgan Field at Bateman Park in Okmulgee that saw the Preston squad overcome an early 3-run deficit.

traveled to Cameron on Tuesday and came away with onesided wins over Bokoshe and the host Cameron Yellowjackets in back-to-back contests. The Pirates routed the Bokoshe Tigers 12-0 in just two innings for their fifth win of the 2022 campaign then completed Tuesday’s road sweep with a decisive 15-2 victory over the host Yellowjackets.
Preston was back in action on Thursday with a ‘home game’ against the Okay Mustangs in Okmulgee and will be on the road on Saturday, battling Roff and Battiest in a 3-team showdown in Roff. The Pirates will compete in back-to-back contests on Saturday at 12 and 2 p.m., respectively.
In Monday’s ‘home game’ against Stuart, the visitors opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first.
The Pirates broke onto the scoreboard with a run in the home half of the first for a 3-1 deficit after one inning of play.
The score remained at 3-1, in favor of Stuart, until the bottom of the fourth when the Preston offense plated four runs in the frame to take over the lead at 5-3.
Stuart made it a 5-4 contest with a run in the top of the fifth, while the Pirates put the game on ice with a 7-run bottom of fifth to walk away with the 12-4, run-rule, victory.
The duo of Luke Hankins (2 for 4, 2 singles, RBI) and Waylon Cope (2 for 3, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) led the Preston offensive attack with two hits apiece.
The other base hits for the Pirates against Stuart came on a single by Noah Wilson, RBI singles by Braxton Kennedy and Easton Shaw, and a go-ahead 2-run triple in the fourth by Jayden Herring.
Other Preston baserunners on Monday were Herring (walk), Hankins (error), Wilson (2 errors), Kennedy (error), Cooper Ausbrooks (walk), and Preston Hale (walk, hit by pitch).
Kaden Dean drove in one of the seven Preston runs in the fifth with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Dean got the start on the mound for the Pirates on Monday and went the distance on the bump to earn the pitching win.
The Preston southpaw allowed four runs on three hits, striking out nine, walking three, and hitting a batter in five innings of work.
In Tuesday’s shutout win over Bokoshe, the Pirates did most of their offensive production in the first inning, erupting for 11 runs in the home half of the frame. The Preston squad tacked on the final run in the second for the 12-0 decision.
Braxton Kennedy earned the pitching win for Preston, allowing just one hit, while striking out two and walking one in two innings of work.
The duo of Luke Hankins (2 for 2, double, triple, 3 RBIs) and Cooper Ausbrooks (2 for 2, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) led the way offensively for the Pirates with two hits apiece.
The other base hits for Preston against Bokoshe came on singles by Jayden Herring and Noah Wilson, double by Kennedy, RBI single by Waylon Cope, and RBI double by Kaden Dean.
Other Pirate baserunners in the shutout win were Herring (error), Dean (error), Kennedy (RBI walk), Preston Hale (hit by pitch), and Easton Shaw (error). Hunter McElhannon drove in one of the 11 runs in the first with an RBI groundout.
In Tuesday’s run-rule win over Cameron, the Pirates led 4-2 after one inning of action, then plated 11 runs in the top of the fourth and kept the host Yellowjackets off the scoreboard in the home half of the frame to award the Preston squad the 15-2 victory.
Easton Shaw went the distance on the mound for Preston to earn the pitching win. Shaw gave up two runs on two hits with five strikeouts, three walks, and one hit batter in four innings of work.
The Pirates scattered nine hits in the run-rule win, led by the duo of Kaden Dean (2 for 4, single, double, 2 RBIs) and Preston Hale (2 for 3, 2 singles, 3 RBIs) with two hits each. Hale also reached base in the contest on a hit by pitch.
The other five base hits against Cameron came on singles by Jayden Herring, Luke Hankins, and Cooper Ausbrooks and RBI singles by Shaw and Braxton Kennedy.
