One of the largest celebrations in the state is only a few weeks away as details and events are being finalized for the annual Henryetta Labor Day Celebration that runs from Sept. 1 through Sept. 5.
The popular celebration kicks off with the Labor Day Pageants on Saturday, Aug. 20 in the Henryetta High School Auditorium. The baby pageant begins at 10 a.m. for ages birth to three and the Miss Labor Day follows at 7 p.m. for ages four to 20.

Carnival attractions and rides will be available Sept. 1 through Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. nightly in the lots behind O’Reilly’s. Bracelet night will be Thursday through Sunday at a cost of $30 per night, per person. Visitors will be required to purchase tickets for rides on Monday night.
Registration for the third annual Red, White & Q BBQ Competition, hosted by Rustler’s BBQ and American Exchange Bank, is due by Aug. 26. Check-in will be on Sept. 2 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Nichols Park. This year, a new part of the competition, a Kids Hamburger Cookoff will be held on Friday night. The main BBQ Competition will be held on Saturday with winners to be announced.

First Family Federal Credit Union (FFFCU) will host their 10th Annual Smokin’ Hot Car & Bike Show on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nichols Park. Registration starts at 8 a.m. There are no fees to enter the show.
Other Saturday, Sept. 3 events will include:
• 3rd Annual Labor Day Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nichols Park.
• Labor Day Gospel Concert at 7 p.m. at Henryetta First Baptist Church located at 420 W. Trudgeon.
• 29th Annual Jim Shoulders Living Legends PRCA Rodeo at the Jim Shoulders Living Legends Arena at Nichols Park. Mutton Busting starts at 7 p.m. followed by the main rodeo at 8 p.m.
Sunday events are as follows:

• 6th Annual Love Wins Horseshoe Tournament at End Time Revival Church located six miles south of Henryetta on 10th Street for ages 12 and up. Registration is from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee per person. Cash prizes will be awarded. Doubles start at 1:30 p.m. and singles will follow.
• Henryetta Lions Club will host the Jared Been Memorial Cornhole Tournament at 6 p.m. in the Henyretta High School Gymnasium. Cash prizes will be awarded. Visit the Henryetta Lions Club page on Facebook for more information.
Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 5
events include:
• Henryetta’s Labor Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street.
• Henryetta Chamber of Commerce 50-Year Time Capsule opening follows the parade in front of the Henryetta Public Library at 518 W. Main. The capsule was buried during the 1972 Henryetta Labor Day Celebration.
• Okmulgee County Democratic Party BBQ Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center for $5 per plate.
• Terrapin Race, Frog Hopping Contest and Fish Scramble begin following the parade on South 6th Street.
• Jared Been Memorial Cornhole Tournament hosted by the Henryetta Lions Club. Registration begins at 10:30 and the tournament begins at 12 p.m. at the Henryetta High School Gymnasium.
• Ruby Gooden Labor Day Games start at 2 p.m. at the Henryetta High School Baseball Field located behind McDonalds.
• Baby Crawling Contest, Parade Awards Presentation and live music by Twelve Valve Diesel Band at the Henryetta Football Field (Cameron Stadium). Gates open at 6 p.m. Hwy. 62 Fireworks presentation will be held at dusk.
