Henryetta Public Schools faculty and staff have been busy this summer in preparation for the upcoming school year which begins next Thursday, Aug. 11.
Henryetta High School Principal Jeremy Strickland announced the west bathrooms in the high school have been completely updated, thanks to a generous $1,000 donation from the Class of 1970.
Updates in both the boys and girls bathrooms included new ceiling tiles, minor repairs, new mirrors, a baby changing station and trash cans.
Local artist and resident, Eddy Thomas, added finishing touches to the bathrooms with paintings of the Henryetta Knights logo earlier this week.
“We want to thank the Henryetta Class of 1970 for their most generous donation,” Strickland said. “Also, thank you to Eddy for decorating and painting the walls.”
Other projects in the high school in recent weeks include expanding a room by taking out walls, building new walls, repainting and sealing the floor in Mrs. Gillin’s room.
In addition to the west bathroom, the east bathrooms, band room, hallways, Principal’s and high school office have all received fresh coats of paint.
Strickland wants to remind students, parents and the community of the 1st annual Henryetta Public Schools Back-to-School Bash and Prayer Walk that will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The Prayer Walk kicks off the event at 6 p.m. and the Back-to-School Bash will follow.
“We hope that many are able to attend this new event and show support for students and staff for the upcoming school year,” Strickland said. “Several area churches plan to bring their youth groups.”
Free hot dogs will be served and there will be live music and yard games.
School administrators will be on hand to provide more information about the coming school year.
