Wilderness Escape VBS

Bring your entire family to Wilderness Escape Vacation Bible School (VBS) at the Henryetta Church of the Nazarene on July 31, Aug. 1, Aug. 2 and Aug. 3.

VBS will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. nightly.

Become part of the journey as Moses and the Israelites watch God guide and provide. You'’ll travel back into Bible times-without setting foot outside our community.

Each day, your family members can become part of history as they see, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in the Bible-times wilderness.

You’ll explore the Israelite camp tents, visit Moses, take part in games, lively Bible songs and sample tasty tidbits as you discover more about Moses’ adventures.

Henryetta Church of the Nazarene is located at 718 W. Trudgeon.

Education Appreciation

Joy In Life Ministries will host their 2nd annual Education Appreciation event on Friday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at 611 E. Trudgeon in Henryetta.

This event is free and open to area school faculty and staff. Staff must provide proof of employment at a public school and are welcome to bring immediately family along. In addition to free school supplies, around

All area church leaders are invited to attend and be a part of praying over area schools.

Shoes, Socks & Books!

First Presbyterian Church of Okmulgee will host their annual Shoes, Socks and Books! giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

The child must be present and an adult must be with the child to receive the shoes, socks and books.

First Presbyterian Church is located at 401 S. Seminole.

Prayer Walk & Back to School Bash

Henryetta High School’s chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host a community Prayer Walk on Sunday, Aug. 7.

With the help of local church pastors, this event will provide interested community members, parents and students an opportunity to walk together around each of the buildings on campus and pray for each.

There will be three different groups.

Group A will cover the Early Childhood Center. Group B will cover the Kindergarten and

Group B will cover the Kindergarten and Elementary campus.

Group C will cover the Middle and High School campus.

Following the Prayer Walk, Henryetta Public Schools will host a first annual Back to School Bash.

There will be free hot dogs, live music and yard games.

School administrators will address those attending about the upcoming school year.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Donations of money, food or supplies to help offset the cost of this free event are needed.

Movie Night Fundraiser

Henryetta Mock Trial Law Team will host a Movie Night Fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Henryetta High School auditorium.

Blood Drive

Hillcrest Hospital Henryetta in collaboration with American Red Cross will host a Blood Drive on Friday, Aug. 12 at 2401 W. Main Street in Henryetta.

All donors must schedule an appointment in order to donate. Appointment times available are between 9 a.m.

Whole blood donations take around eight to 10 minutes.

Aug. 20

Henryetta Lions Bingo Fundraiser

Henryetta Lions Club will host another Bingo Fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 20 at The Briefcase at 313 W. Main Street.

Card sales begin at 4 p.m. and games start at 4:30 p.m.

There will be a 60/40 split for winners.

All proceeds will go to support the Lions Club Eyeglass Fund.

Oct. 1

Dewar Harvest Festival

Dewar Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vendors can sign up at Dewar Town Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Spaces for vendors are $20.

If you signed up to be a vendor last year, you do not have to pay vendor fees this year.

There will be games, music, bounce houses and more.

Cruise Knight

Henryetta’s Fall Cruise Knight will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. between 3rd and 8th streets on Main Street.

Oct. 22-23

Henryetta Mule & Donkey Days

A first annual Henryetta Mule & Donkey Days and Mule Jump & Trade Day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23.

AHRMA Vintage Nationals

T&S Racing will host their annual AHRMA Vintage Nationals Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6 at Nichols Park in Henryetta.

Worn Flags Sought

Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 is currently collecting used and worn flags that will be properly disposed of during an upcoming flag retirement ceremony.

Flags can be dropped off at the Henryetta Free-Lance office located at 302 W. Main Street.

“Instead of throwing away your American flag,” Post 539 Vice Commander Hugh “Rooster” Jackson said, “bring them to the Free-Lance office so we can provide a suitable retirement.”

Community Breakfast

Tulledega Masonic Lodge No. 201 in Henryetta will host a Community Breakfast on the third Saturday of each month.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for $8 per person.

Lodge No. 201 is located at 402 E. Trudgeon.

NA Recovery Group

Henryetta Nazarene’s New Life Recovery Group will host NA meetings on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.

Meetings will be held in the Youth Building at the church located at 7th and Trudgeon.

The meetings are open to anyone struggling with addiction or family members of those struggling.

Freedom Warriors NA Meetings

Joy In Life Freedom Warriors will host NA meetings every Monday at 7 p.m. at 611 E. Trudgeon in Henryetta.

“You don’t have to battle alone,” Pastor James Page said. “Come connect on Monday nights and gain the strength to succeed.”

Those attending should enter the building through the glass door entrance.

County Election Board Meeting Dates

Okmulgee County Election Board recently announced regular scheduled meeting dates for 2022.

All meetings are held at the Okmulgee County Election Board Office at 314 W. 7th Street in Room 102 in Okmulgee.

Upcoming meeting dates and times include: July 1 at 4 p.m., Aug. 23 at 5 p.m., Aug. 26 at 4 p.m., Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.

Church of Christ Food Bank

Henryetta Church of Christ hosts their Food Bank on the second Thursday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The church is located at 413 W. Broadway.

FCC Food Pantry

First Christian Church of Henryetta will host a Food Pantry on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 10 a.m. “Nobody in Henryetta should go hungry.” FCC is located at 412 N. 5th Street.

Computer Giveaway by PC Memories, Inc.

PC Memories, Inc., a non-profit corporation, donates refurbished desktop and laptop computers to low income families with children as well as adults, seniors and veterans who live in Okmulgee County.
