A Henryetta Rock Hunt, created by Eddy Thomas, was reported as great fun for the community as well as visitors over the past week.
Thomas, a Henryetta resident and artist, painted over 100 rocks with various designs.
A week ago, she visited businesses all along Main Street, hiding the rocks for hunter enthusiasts to find.
On a recent visit to her homestate of New Mexico, she gathered an abundance of river rocks to bring back and share with the community.
Every rock is unique, not only in shape, but each boasts paintings of scenery, cartoon characters, animals and other random designs, hand-painted by Thomas.
The only similarity among the rocks is on one side of each reads “Highway to Henryetta.”
“I’m happy the hunt was such a success,” Thomas said. “The rocks will be a keepsake to remember the Highway to Henryetta concert, when over 10,000 guests visited the city.”
Henryetta resident, Glenda Ashley, found four rocks while searching at Mel’s Country Market, Ritz Barber Shop, Chamber of Commerce and The Flower Shop Plus.
“I had a blast searching!” Ashley said. “I love the Henryetta community!”
There are still many more of these one-of-a-kind treasures to be found in Main Street businesses.
If you find one, take a picture with it and email it, along with your name and where you reside, to tracy@cookson.news.
