Two Okmulgee County athletes were in Enid on Sunday afternoon, competing at the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association All-State Games.
Preston’s Lance Porter and Dewar’s Jameson Ross were two members of the Small East squad at the OBCA All-State Game at David Allen Me morial Ballpark.
Ross drove in the first two runs for the Small East squad, while Porter finished 2 for 3 at the plate in a game that ended in a 7-7 tie after seven innings and saw the Small East rally from a 5-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh to force the tie.
One of Porter’s two hits came in the 5-run seventh. The 2022 Preston graduate roped the first pitch he saw into center field for a single with no outs in the frame.
Ross stepped to the plate with the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh, but was retired to end the inning with the score deadlocked at 7-7.
Porter will close out his high school baseball career this coming Sunday (June 12) when he joins Preston teammate Dawson Sumner as part of the TABCA All-Star Game at OneOK Field in Tulsa.
Ross will be part of this Saturday’s Oklahoma Native Association All-State Baseball Team, joining Dewar teammates Thomas Brownfield and Garrett Loyd and Okmulgee’s Kaden Ballard, at Morgan Field at Bateman Park in Okmulgee. Ross will also compete in the boys basketball All-State game on Saturday at the Mvskoke Dome in Okmulgee.
