Mandatory redistricting has caused many districts and precinct boundaries to change.
Mandatory redistricting has caused many districts and precinct boundaries to change.
As a result, some voters will be assigned to new polling places or in a new district or both, Ashley Carnes, Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary recently announced.
The precinct boundary lines must be evaluated every ten years following the redistricting of congressional, legislative and county commissioner districts.
Redistricting occurs following the federal census to ensure that the population in the various districts is equal.
District lines that changed for Okmulgee County are House Representative 24 and County Commissioners 1, 2 and 3.
Carnes said 6,728 voters were affected by the redistricting.
All voters affected by the redistricting will receive a NEW Voter ID card before the June 28 Primary Election.
The last bundle of I.D. cards was mailed on May 26.
“We are seeing a lot of Voter ID cards returning to the County Election Board office by the Post Office due to voters no longer residing at the address. Voters are not updating their voter information," Carnes said.
If you have moved, please call the County Election Board to check your voter information or visit the Oklahoma State Election Board website at elections.ok.gov and click the OK Voter

All mail applications must be postmarked by June 3, 2022.
