Robinson appointed to serve on Okmulgee County Fair Board

Floyd Robinson has been named to the Okmulgee County Fair Board to represent District 3.

Floyd Robinson has been named to the Okmulgee County Fair Board to represent District 3.

The approval came during Monday’s meeting of the Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners. The appointment was made following the resignation of Bradley Womack.

Okmulgee County

Emergency Management Director Tim Craighton gave an update on recovery efforts from the May 4 flooding.

“I still have three homes I can’t get to because of the water,” Craighton said. “At least we went through and did assessments last week. The governor declared an emergency on Thursday of last week, so this sets us up to go through the federal government and ask for a declaration from the Feds. It should take a couple more weeks for that.”

Craighton stated that damage estimates for the county is just over $8 million dollars.

He reported Southern Baptist Relief was in the area assisting with clean-up of homes impacted in the area.

“We are still doing a few individual assessments, they are still coming in,” Craighton said. An independent task force is conducting assessments of properties in the floodplain area. “So those assessments were done

“So those assessments were done last week,” he said. Homes that were ‘destroyed’ would need to comply with requirements to raise the home above the BFE (base flood elevation) level, or remove the home completely.

“So far, we only have one or two that will fall into that,” Craighton said.

Agenda items approved were:

• Minutes from May 6 and May 9 meetings.

• Blanket Purchase Orders: District 1 to Cintas for uniforms as needed; District 3 to Cintas for uniforms as needed; District 3 to Unifirst for uniforms as needed; District to O’Reilly Auto for parts and supplies as needed; County Assessor to District 2 for fuel as needed; Nuyaka FD to S&H Auto for parts and supplies as needed. • Employee Forms: James Connell,

• Employee Forms: James Connell, District 3, employment ceased. • Payment on the Hazard

• Payment on the Hazard Mitigation Plan through Use Tax.

• Correction - Transfer of Funds from Emergency Management M&O to Emergency Management Fees and Donation.

• Payment of Claims: $280,243.07. Under New Business, the board approved the monthly appropriations.
