Only four percent of voters within the Henryetta Public School District cast their ballots during the April 5 Board of Education General Election.
Candidates on the ballot for the Office No. 2 seat were James Williams and Shawn Okerson.
Williams was the victor of the race with 104 votes total or 69.80% compared to 45 votes or 30.20% for Okerson.
A breakdown of votes is as follows:
• Williams – Absentee votes totaled two; Early votes totaled 2 and Election Day votes totaled 100.
• Okerson – Absentee votes totaled three; Early votes totaled one and Election Day votes totaled 41.
It is unclear as to why more school district voters didn’t turn out for the election.
Currently, there are 3,493 registered voters within the Henryetta Public School District, according to the Okmulgee County Election Board.
Polls were open for a 12-hour period – from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
With a scarce number of voters turning out, their votes accounted for approximately 4.265% of the registered voters within the district.
