Morris, Okmulgee earn Top 5 finishes at Okmulgee meet

The varsity track and field programs at Okmulgee and Morris high schools came away with Top 5 finishes at last Friday’s Okmulgee Bulldog Invitational meet at historic Harmon Field.

The varsity track and field programs at Okmulgee and Morris high schools came away with Top 5 finishes at last Friday’s Okmulgee Bulldog Invitational meet at historic Harmon Field.

The Morris Eagles were the top Okmulgee County team at the annual event, taking home the team championship in the Small School Boys division.

The Okmulgee track and field teams each came away with the runner-up plaques at their home meet, while the Morris Lady Eagles finished two spots behind the host Lady Bulldogs in fourth place in the Small School Girls division.

The annual track and field meet was divided into Large Schools and Small Schools with Glenpool winning the Large School Girls championship and Sapulpa being crowned the team champion in the Large School Boys division.

The Small School Girls team championship was presented to Oklahoma City Douglass.

The top performer from Okmulgee County in the Small School Girls division was Okmulgee’s Aliyah Harrison, who captured individual gold medals in the 300 meter hurdles and High Jump.

Harrison’s Lady Bulldog teammates A’Mirra Fourshey (100 meter dash) and Serenity McFalls (Shot Put) also took home top honors in their respective events at the annual meet.

Fourshey also snared a silver medal at the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash.

Okmulgee’s Abigail Harris (Long Jump), Alana Lewis (Discus), and Cameryn Williamson (Shot Put) took home bronze medals individually at the meet with third-place finishes in their respective events. Rylee Whitaker was the top individual performer for the Morris Lady Eagles with a third-place finish in the 800 meter run.

The host Lady Bulldogs took the gold medal in the 800 meter relay, while the Lady Eagles snared silver in the 3200 meter relay and bronze in the 800 meter relay.

There were a total of 12 county athletes to walk away with Top 3 finishes individually in the Small School Boys division at the Okmulgee meet.

Okmulgee’s Julius LeBlanc, Nicardio Hunt, and Jordan Bolden and Morris’ Erik Macklin and Jaylen Zackery each came away with a pair of Top 3 finishes last Friday.

LeBlanc captured gold in the 110 meter hurdles and silver in the 300 meter hurdles. Hunt took home silver in the 1600 meter run and bronze in the 3200 meter run. Bolden came away a gold medal in the Shot Put and a silver medal in the Discus. Macklin earned bronze in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Zackery was awarded bronze medals in the 300 meter hurdles and Long Jump.

Other Top 3 individual finishers from the county at the Okmulgee meet were Okmulgee’s Armon Frazier (2nd in 400 meter dash), D’Mari Harp (2nd in 110 meter hurdles), and Adin Stallings (2nd in High Jump) and Morris’ Kyle Richardson (3rd in 400 meter dash), Trey Daniels (3rd in 400 meter run), Justin Edwards (3rd in 1600 meter run), and Christian Evans (3rd in 110 meter hurdles).

The Bulldogs earned silver in the 800 meter relay and bronze in the 1600 meter relay, while the Eagles took home gold medals in the 800 and 1600 meter relays and silver in the 3200 meter relay.
