Beggs places 7th at Wagoner track meet

The Beggs varsity track and field program opened its 2022 campaign last Friday at the Wagoner Bulldog Invitational.

The Demons finished seventh overall with a team total of 34.5 points, while the Lady Demons, the defending Class 3A state champions, finished tied with Stilwell for seventh with 36 points.

Coweta swept the team championships at last Friday’s event.

Summer Lester was the top individual performer for the Lady Demons last Friday, taking home the gold medal in the girls 1600 meter run and silver in the 800 meter run. Olivia Tate was next individually for the Beggs ladies with a silver-medal finish in the 200 meter dash.

The Lady Demons brought home gold in the 400 meter relay and silver in the 800 meter relay at the season-opening meet.

On the boys side, the top individual performer for the Demons was Charlie Mason, who captured gold in the Shot Put and silver in the Discus.

Kaden Stanton finished be hind Mason in the Shot Put with a silver medal in the event, while Logan Hicks took home a bronze medal for the Beggs gentlemen in the Long Jump. Hicks also finished in a tie for sixth in the High Jump, while Evin Kemp rounded out the individual point scorers at the event with a fifth-place finish in the Shot Put.

The Beggs track and field program was back in action Thursday at the Cushing Crossroads Relays meet at Cushing High School.
