Henryetta junior Isaac McNac brought home a nice piece of hardware from the 2022 OFBCA State Powerlifting Championships this past Saturday.
With a total lift weight of 1,460 lbs., McNac was crowned the individual state champion in the 275-pound weight division at the state meet in El Reno.
McNac had lifts of 640 lbs. in the Squat, 330 lbs. in the Bench Press, and 490 lbs. in the Deadlift to finish with a 75-pound margin over his closest competitor - Caleb Bruce of Washington - and take home the individual state championship plaque.
McNac was also named the Outstanding Lifter in the Squat in the Heavyweight Division at the state meet.
The Knights also had Ethan Green competing at the state meet with the junior athlete finishing sixth overall in the 198-pound weight division. Green finished with a total lift weight of 1,190 lbs. and had lifts of 450 lbs. in the Squat, 285 lbs. in the Bench Press, and 455 lbs. in the Deadlift. Green’s total was 25 lbs. shy of a fifth-place finish and a spot on the medal stand.
The Morris Eagles also had two athletes compete at Saturday’s state powerlifting meet in El Reno.
Erik Macklin took home the bronze medal in the 198-pound weight division with a total lift weight of 1,255 lbs. Macklin finished with lifts of 515 lbs. in the Squat, 215 lbs. in the Bench Press, and 525 lbs. in the Deadlift for his third-place finish. Macklin finished 10 lbs. more than fourth-place finisher, Nolan First of Frederick, and was only 90 lbs. shy of a state championship finish. The individual state championship in the 198-pound weight divsion went to Carter Sands of Timberlake with a lift total of 1,345 lbs., followed by Will Swigert of Mounds with a lift total of 1,295 lbs.
The other Eagle competitor at the state powerlifting meet was Junior Walls, who finished 17th overall in the 275-pound weight division. Walls finished with a total lift weight of 1,155 lbs. with lifts of 445 lbs. in the Squat, 250 lbs. in the Bench Press, and 460 lbs. in the Deadlift.
These four Okmulgee County athletes qualified for the state powerlifting meet by finishing in the Top 4 in their respective weight classes at their respective regional meets on March 2. Henryetta competed at the regional meet in Broken Bow, while Henryetta competed at the regional meet in Miami.
Green and McNac took home regional championships in their respective weight divisions in Miami, while Macklin was runner-up at 198 lbs. and Walls was fourth at 275 lbs. in their regional meet in Miami.
