Over the past 43 years, Enis has assumed the duties of teacher, coach and administration. His final day within the school system will be June 30.
“I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful board of education members, superintendents, principals and teachers,” Enis wrote in a letter addressed to the board. “I appreciate all the great opportunities and experiences that I was a part of with the students. We need to always remember that we are here for the students.”
Four new staff were hired as follows:
• Transportation Director for the 2022- 2023 school year – Mike Hargrave.
• High School/Middle School Library Aide for 2022-2023 – Lorrie Henry.
• Child Nutrition sixhour cook for the remainder of the 2021- 2022 school year – Christy Johnson.
• Elementary Paraprofessional in the mild/moderate Special Education class for the remainder of the year – Claudia Pollard.
Board members also approved rehiring the following nine faculty and staff members for the 2022-2023 school year:
• Elementary Principal – Roger Williams.
• Assistant Elementary Principal – Leslie Jones.
• Middle School Principal – Jayme Matlock.
• Business Manager/Assistant Treasurer – Tammie Fairres.
• Activity Clerk – Cynthia Layman.
• Clerical/Payroll – Bertha McGowin.
• Encumbrances Clerk – Tammy Smith.
• Maintenance Director – Harold Fox.
• Child Nutrition Director – Sallee Hedrick.
Minutes of the regular board meeting on Jan. 10 and special board meeting on Jan. 28 were approved.
Encumbrances and financial reports for the 2021-2022 school year were reviewed and accepted.
A revision and review of the COVID-19 Return to Learn Policy was tabled.
“Our numbers are way down,” Superintendent Dwayne Noble said. “No one is on quarantine. I recommend tabling the agenda item.”
Other agenda items approved by board members included:
• Softball and music fundraisers for the 2021- 2022 school year.
• Renewal Agreement with STS Education for GoGuardian software for the 2021-2022 school year.
• School Calendar for the 2022-2023 school year.
• Student Transfer Policy for the 2021-2022 school year.
In the Superintendent ’s Report, Supt. Noble announced the dugout at the softball field had been blown over. Staff is working to get it fixed before the season begins.
He also noted that the school was one of 330 school districts to be awarded a first-time Redbud School Grant.
Board members in attendance were James Williams, Misty Morris and David Molet. Pam Bealko and David Bullard were absent.
