Also, Lion John Been was happy to report that a kind passerby helped him change out a recent flat tire on his vehicle.
Lion of the Week, Corbet Witham announced his special guest speaker, Thomas Johnson, owner of Mattress by Appointment.
Johnson, a graduate of Henryetta High School, is known around town as “The Mattress Guy.”
He described his business as a one-worker business, having the equivalent of yearround sale prices.
“My goal is to sell mattresses and foundations at near cost as possible,” Johnson said. “Since they are typically marked up as one of the highest-priced products in all of retail, sometimes five times the actual cost price to produce.”
Johnson went on to say he works hard to try to keep a non-retail feel to his business and is able to pass on onsiderable savings to his customers since he has very little overhead.
Mattress by Appointment cllientele are within a 30-mile radius of Henryetta.
“Local purchases usually include free delivery but I’m not able to haul off a customer’s old mattress,” Johnson said.
