The first pieces of hardware of the 2022 Muscogee Nation Okmulgee County Basketball Tournament were awarded this past Saturday at the Mvskoke Dome in Okmulgee.
The first county team to earn a tournament plaque in 2022 was the Henryetta Lady Knights, who took home the girls consolation championship following a 45-31 win over the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs.
After the girls fifth-place finisher was crowned, the next piece of hardware to be awarded on Saturday was the boys consolation championship, which went to the Okmulgee Bulldogs, who earned the fifth-place trophy after defeating the Wilson Tigers by a 74-33 margin in the boys fifthplace game.
The other pieces of hardware given out on Saturday were the girls and boys third-place finishers and the girls and boys champion and runner-up trophies.

Below are summaries from last Saturday’s consolation finals action at the 2022 Muscogee Nation Okmulgee County Basketball Tournament.
Girls Bracket
Henryetta 45, Okmulgee 31 The Lady Knights escaped the opening period with an 11-7 advantage then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 15-7 in the second stanza for a 26- 14 halftime lead. Okmulgee took the low-scoring third quarter by an 8-6 margin to make it a 10-point Henryetta lead - 32-22 - with eight minutes remaining. The Lady Knights closed out the consolation title win with a 13-9 advantage in the final frame for the 45-31 outcome.
Katelyn Dwiggins led the offensive attack for the Henryetta squad with a team-best 13 points. McKayla Greenhaw also reached double-digit scoring in the fifth-place contest with 11 points. Other Lady Knight scorers against Okmulgee were Brooklyn Baughman with eight, Kasedi Gobin seven, Aliyah Harjochee four, and Graci Lollis two.
Okmulgee’s top scorer in the consolation title game was Tori James with 16 points. Mariya Tecumseh was next for the Lady Bulldogs with seven, followed by Cyann Powell with four and Sieriah Husman and Cameryn Williamson two each.
Boys Bracket
Okmulgee 74, Wilson 33 The Bulldogs came out of the opening period with a 19-4 margin then doubled up the Tigers 20-10 in the second quarter for a 39-14 lead at the intermission. The Okmulgee gentle men took the final two frames by margins of 19-16 and 16-7, respectively, to put the finishing touches on the 74-33 victory and the consolation championship.
The Bulldogs were led in scoring by the duo of Allen Thierry and Topley Powell with 12 points each. Laurence Green and Tre Swan also finished in double figures for Okmulgee with 10 points apiece. Other Bulldog scorers in the fifth-place contest were Braeden Williams with seven, Darin Miles and Keith Talton fix each, Ollie Hammon and D’Mari Harp four apiece, and Makhi Phillips three.
The Tigers’ top scorer was Bronc Grist with a game-high 13 points. Logan Moore also finished in double digits with 10. Charles Shelburn and Ethan Moore rounded out the Wilson scoring with five points each.
