Henryetta Cub Scout Pack 118 had an exciting meeting on Monday evening, with a flight demonstration and simulator session presented by Henryetta R/C Aviators.
“Big eyes and happy faces filled the gym at the First United Methodist Church,” Katie Phillips, Pack 118 parent and leader said. “Scouts were introduced to the world of aviation.”
Henryetta R/C Aviators President Wes Arnett and Vice President Haley Eyer discussed the remote-control hobby.
They brought several different models of remote-controlled airplanes and demonstrated how to fly inside the building, allowing the scouts to join in.
Through a flight model simulator program, scouts were offered a chance to learn how to fly and the mechanics of operating the planes.
“The experience was such a hit,” Phillips said. “Henryetta R/C Aviators plan to team up with us to co-host events in the future in order to bring aviation to scouts throughout the district.”
“It went really well,” Arnett said. “We look forward to working with the scouts in the future and hope they come visit our field.”
Henryetta R/C Aviators is a family friendly club, open to all ages.
The club hosts meetings on the first Saturday of the month at 12 p.m. at Shoney’s Restaurant. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend.
