The Wilson squads took the first meeting November 18 in Wilson, then completed the regular-season series with a sweep of the host Schulter cagers on Tuesday.
The visiting Lady Tigers walked off the gym floor at Schulter with a 43-11 victory in the opening contest, while the Tigers capped off the road sweep in the nightcap, defeating the host Bulldogs by a 58-27 margin.
Wilson will return to action Friday with a trip to Paden, while Schulter was scheduled to battle Dewar in Dewar on Friday, but that contest was postponed to a later date, due to the Dewar football team competing in the Class B semifinals on Friday.
Both Wilson and Schulter will compete next week at the annual Wilson Tiger Classic basketball tournament at Wilson High School.
In Tuesday’s girls contest, the Lady Tigers came out of the first period with a 10-2 margin, then outscored the host Lady Bulldogs 9-2 in the second stanza for a 19-4 halftime lead.
The Wilson ladies took the final two quarters by margins of 12-5 and 12-2, respectively, to put the finishing touches on the Lady Tigers’ 43-11 decision.
Janelle Proctor was the top scorer for Wilson with a game-high 14 points. The duo of Kailee Branson and Kaozang Yang were next in the scoring column for the visitors with six points each, followed by the trio of Mariah Shanks, Brooklyn Weeks, and Jayda Pinkston with four points apiece. Mellani Blackbear and Janessa Doyle rounded out the Wilson scoring with two points each.
Schulter was led in scoring by Addiemae Kanada with seven points. Caidence Campbell and Journey Henderson rounded out the Lady Bulldog offense with two points each.
In Tuesday’s boys game, the Tigers took the opening frame by a 12-5 margin. Wilson edged the host Bulldogs 13-11 advantage to go into the halftime break with a 25-16 advantage.
The visitors doubled their hosts 14-7 in the third period to extend their lead to 39-23, heading into the final eight minutes of regulation.
The Tigers put the finishing touches on the double-digit win with a 19-4 advantage in the fourth period, walking away with the 58-27 victory.
Logan Moore was tops offensively for Wilson, finishing with a game-high 17 points. Charles Shelburn also reached double-digit scoring for the visiting Tigers with 16 points.
Other Wilson scorers in the county battle were Peyton Proctor and Bronc Grist with seven each, Ethan Moore three, and Jacob Finley two.
Schulter’s top scorer on Tuesday was Kenta Carter with 11, followed by Kameron Vinyard with 10.
Bobby Calhoun and Jordan Freeman rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with three points each.
