Dan Artussee was sworn in as District 3 commissioner, after winning last week’s special election.
Artussee replaces James Connors who retired in June. Connors was in attendance to support his former employee. Artussee’s wife, Norma, along with other friends and courthouse employees, were in attendance at the swearing-in.
Judge Pandee Ramirez gave the Oath of Office, with Artussee thanking everyone for their support.
During the meeting of the board, the following items were approved.
• Minutes of the Nov. 8 meeting.
• Officers’ Report: Assessor’s Office, $7,386.70 for October; Treasurer’s Office, August, $265,694.22, September for $265,688.91, and for October, 290,446.05.
• Blanket Purchase Order: District 1 for S&H Auto for parts and supplies as needed, $1,000.
• Employee Forms: Lori Tiger, County Clerk’s Office, employment ceased.
• Election Board Secretary salary reimbursement for October for $4,032.68.
• Transfer of Funds: County Clerk’s Office, $350 from M&O to Capital Outlay.
• Claims totaling $299,457.06.
• Cash Fund Estimate of Needs and Requests for Appropriations.
• Closing of alleyway in Block 28 in Preston.
“I want to be clear that you can close it, but it will still require action by the owners of the property to vacate it,” Assistant District Attorney Greg Stidham said… “They are not required to, but they will not be the owners until they judicially vacate it.”
During Input by the Public, Okmulgee Area Development Corporation Director Court Newkirk thanked District 2 Commissioner David Walker and his staff.
According to Newkirk, representatives of a company possibly seeking to open in Okmulgee was scheduled for a tour. Someone dumped unwanted furniture on the road leading to the site, but the county quickly removed the items before the site visit.
