The Dewar Dragon varsity football team extended three different winning streaks this past Friday in Quinton.
The Dragons scored 56 unanswered points last Friday to rout the host Quinton Savages 56-6 in the 2021 regular-season finale for the defending Class B state champions.
The mercy-rule win extended Dewar’s current winning streak to 25 games, as well as the Dragons’ current district winning streak.
The lopsided victory also added to another Dewar winning streak. Since losing to Davenport by a 50-38 margin on September 28, 2018, the Dragons have won their last 35 regular-season games, which includes finishing the last three regular seasons with unblemished 10-0 records.
Dewar will continue their journey towards a repeat state championship this Thursday, hosting Cave Springs in the first round of the Class B play-offs. The Dragons will welcome the Hornets, who finished fourth in the District B-6 standings, to Dr. Ted Lewis Stadium in Dewar for the postseason opener.
A win on Thursday will move the defending state champion Dragons into next week’s second round at home against the winner of a first-round matchup between Garber and Foyil, while an opening-round loss to Cave Springs will bring a close to Dewar’s bid for a repeat state title.
Kickoff for Thursday’s playoff opener against Cave Springs is set for 7 p.m. in Dewar.

The Dragons scored four times in the second quarter and were successful on 3 of 4 conversion attempts in the frame to go into halftime with a commanding 50-6 advantage.
