The Henryetta Golden Knights were held scoreless for the first time in 2021 last Friday with a 44-0 loss to the visiting Metro Christian Patriots.
The Knights were unable to find the end zone in a game for the first time since falling to Okmulgee 26-0 in last year’s regular-season finale in Henryetta.
Last Friday’s shutout loss to the defending 2-time Class 2A state champion Patriots was the second-straight game the Knights were held off the scoreboard against the Tulsa private school, as Metro Christian took last year’s meeting in Tulsa by a 45-0 margin.
The loss also keeps the Henryetta squad winless in 2021 at 0-5, heading into this Friday’s county battle with their arch rivals, the Morris Eagles, in Morris.
Kickoff for Friday’s county showdown in Morris is set for 7 p.m.
In last Friday’s District 2A-7 meeting with Metro Christian, the visitors found the end zone three times in each of the first two quarters for a 41-0 halftime lead then added a field goal in the third period to cap off the scoring in the contest.

One minute and four seconds later, Dempsey Gilman scored from three yards out to extend the Patriots’ lead to 13-0, then Francis connected with Walker Holder on a 61-yard scoring strike at the 3:04 mark of the opening frame for the third Metro Christian score of the contest. Haveman toed the extra-point kick to put the visitors in front 20-0 at the end of the first 12 minutes of action.
